Guessing the weather isn?t just about looking out the window or listening to the weatherman any more. High tech solutions ranging from websites to home forecasting machines abound for amateur weather hounds and those who want to be in the know. One device looking to take bringing weather forecasts into the home to the next level is the Oregon Scientific Complete Regional Weather Station with MSN Direct Weather Data Service.
Complete Regional Weather Station with MSN? Direct Weather Data Service
Oregon Scientific?s Complete Regional Weather Station draws upon the MSN Direct service, first used to deliver news and information to SPOT watches, to get weather information via FM radio waves. No weather sensors are used by the device, as is common with other weather station style products. Instead, a variety of weather information is delivered every two minutes in the top one hundred U.S. and Canadian metropolitan areas via data from The Weather Channel.
The weather information delivered is extremely comprehensive, covering three day weather forecast and description, temperature and humidity with trend indicator, precipitation chance, wind direction, wind speed, gust wind, wind chill, dew point temperature, heat index, UV index, EPA air-quality reading, rain level with last 24 hours of history, sunrise and sunset times, moon phase and NWS weather warnings, watches and advisories.
The Complete Regional Weather Station does monitor the indoor environment as well, reporting temperature and humidity with trend indicator as well as current comfort level.
For those needing to keep track of the day and time, this device has a clock and calendar with radio controlled time update and DST adjustment. The clock comes with dual two minute daily alarms which have user selectable alarm formats, an eight minute snooze button and time zone settings.
All of the information this device collects is displayed on an easy to read blue backlit LCD and can be customized to one of five languages. Power is supplied via an included adapter and backup power is provided by 4 AA batteries.
The Oregon Scientific Complete Regional Weather Station with MSN Direct Weather Data Service is priced at $199.95. More information about it can be found on Oregon Scientific?s website (http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/product.asp?cid=2&scid=4&pid=603)
