Nokia’s Lumia 635 comes to T-Mobile and Metro PCS

T-Mobile is adding to the Nokia Lumia 635 to its Windows Phone offerings. The low-cost device offers basic specs with Nokia’s iconic style. The device will also be available at Metro PCS for that network’s bargain hunters. T-Mobile and Metro PCS will be the first U.S. carriers to offer the Lumia 635.

The Lumia 635 features a 4.5 -inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. Although it’s certainly not the most high-resolution screen on the market, it’s decent for a budget device like the 635. A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 powers the budget phone, clocking in at 1.2GHz. It also has 512MB RAM and 8GB of storage built in, which is expandable via the MicroSD card slot.

Although Nokia didn’t give the 635 a front-facing camera, it did add a 5-megapixel camera to the back of the device. The Lumia 635 also comes with an 1830mAh battery, which should last up to 14 hours of 3G talk time. The device is running Windows Phone 8.1 and features Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual assistant.

The 635 is expected to sell well among customers who are looking for a basic, low-cost smartphone. After all, it is the successor to the Lumia 521, which just happens to be the bestselling Windows Phone worldwide.

T-Mobile will offer the Lumia 635 in white, yellow, green, black, and orange. If you have T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plan, you can get the Lumia 635 for $0 down + $7 per month for 24 months. Once all’s said and done, the 635 will only cost $168, which is a genuine bargain for a smartphone in the United States. Would-be customers can buy the Lumia 635 from the Home Shopping Network on July 5, from T-Mobile’s website on July 9, or in stores on July 16. Metro PCS will receive the Lumia 635 on July 18 for $99.
