Sony has shared the Gamescom demo of Bloodborne, the PlayStation 4-exclusive action RPG from Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Check out six and half minutes of monster-hacking action as the game’s unnamed protagonist, looking for all the world like Vampire Hunter D, eviscerates monsters of increasing size throughout a drab, Victorian city.

Unlike the measured, defensive combat of Dark SoulsBloodborne‘s action is a little faster and more aggressive, but no less visceral. The video shows off various weapons as it progresses, including the previously-revealed switchblade “saw cleaver”, dual wielded with a pistol, and a much larger poleaxe. As a nice touch of realism, the protagonist’s coat appears to be increasingly soaked with blood as the fighting goes on.

While From Software has not yet revealed the particulars, the studio has hinted at some form of multiplayer feature, which appears to come in at the end of the video when another character, similarly armed and dressed to the protagonist, steps in to help defeat the lumbering Cleric Beast.

Bloodborne will make its way exclusively to PS4 on March 31, 2015.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree finally arrives this June
A furnace golem looms in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

We finally got our first full look at Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the expansion for FromSoftware's critically acclaimed 2022 open-world game. Thankfully, we don't have to wait too much longer for it, as publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed a June 21 release date.

The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree trailer is full of gameplay, showing the new area that players can explore, many different bosses and combat encounters, and some awesome new weapons. Standouts include a boss that's a giant burning wicker man, a large hippo-like creature that can grow sparks out of its body, and a powerful-looking flaming crossbow weapon. The trailer also shows the player dying many times, so it looks like Shadow of the Erdtree will feature a lot more of the satisfying, yet difficult gameplay loop that the original offered.

Lies of P has ignited my love of Soulslikes in a way FromSoftware never could
A robot holds Pinocchio in Lies of P.

If you know my tastes, you know that I have a love-hate relationship with the Soulslike genre. Well, more like a hate-hate relationship. Historically, I’ve never had the patience for critical darlings like FromSoftware’s Bloodborne that forced me to bang my head against hard bosses for hours on end. Elden Ring would alleviate a lot of my frustrations with the genre thanks to its open-ended structure, but it didn’t exactly have me rushing back to give Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice another chance.

So it comes as a personal surprise that I’m currently obsessed with Lies of P. At first, I was sure I wouldn’t click with a game that looked like a Bloodborne clone from an unproven developer; I was mostly just in it for its bizarre Pinnochio premise. The more I’ve played, though, the more I’ve become engrossed in the atmospheric action RPG. What once enraged me has finally become a motivator in my quest to kill a city full of twisted puppets.

A profile view of an awesome mech.

This may not be the last boss in the game, but FromSoftware's final bosses typically aren't their most challenging. In Armored Core 6, that crown goes to the boss of chapter 4, who has the catchy name of IB-01:CEL 240. This is the first boss that will really require you to understand and build out your AC to counter it if you want any hope of beating it, plus it has one dirty trick up its sleeve to be ready for. If you've been ramming mech after mech into this boss with no ideas left on how to overcome it, here are our best tips to help you beat IB-01:CEL 240 in Armored Core 6.
IB-01:CEL 240 boss guide

Your loadout here is more important than ever. Our most successful run utilized the tank legs for decent mobility, lots of Armor Points, and the capacity to carry heavy weaponry. Those weapons included twin Stun Needle Launchers on our shoulders and two Songbirds (or your best shotguns) on each arm.
