DICE has shared early details of Final Stand, the last downloadable cnotent pack for Battlefield 4. Set in the snowy expanses of Russia, Final Stand shakes up the Battlefield formula by taking a cue from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and adding some futuristic prototype weapons and vehicles. That includes a one-shot railgun and a hovertank. The trailer also flashes an image of blueprints for what looks like an AT-ST-esque bipedal walking robot.
The pack adds four new maps: Operation Whiteout, Hammerhead, Giants of Karelia, and Hangar 21. All four appear to be built around secretive military facilities where Russian scientists have been developing the weapons of tomorrow. In the run-up to the content pack’s release, DICE will be putting the new maps through their paces on the PC Community Test Environment server where Premium members can help the developers test out new content. Slots are limited, so not every CTE member will have a chance to try the new maps.
No date has yet been announced for when Final Stand will arrive other than that it will be sometime between October 1 and December 31, 2014. That release was pushed back from its original promise of summer 2014, likely in order to fill the hole left in EA’s release schedule when Battlefield: Hardline was delayed until early 2015. As always, Premium subscribers will get a first crack at the new content before it comes to the general public.
