Despite bringing its bigger sibling to Verizon and T-Mobile, Sony had yet to make any official announcement regarding the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. While it appeared in Sony’s online store last week, you couldn’t actually buy the 4.7-inch smartphone. Now, however, that seems to be rectified as it is currently available unlocked for $530.
Unfortunately for those interested in purchasing the Z3 Compact, the handset is currently backordered, though we presume it will start shipping soon. You can purchase the Z3 Compact in black, white, green, or orange. Keep in mind that the Z3 Compact is a GSM/LTE device, so it should play nice with AT&T’s and T-Mobile’s networks, but not Verizon’s and Sprint’s.
The Z3 Compact contains the same quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor found in the Z3, though it’s equipped with 2GB of RAM instead of the Z3’s 3GB. Dominating the front of the Z3 Compact is its 4.6-inch 1280 x 720 pixel display. You’ll also find the same dust- and water-resistance as on the Z3, as well as Android 4.4 KitKat.
While most mini versions of flagship smartphones compromise in terms of processing power and overall specifications, the main draw of the Z3 Compact is an overall lack of such compromises. For all intents and purposes, the Z3 Compact is the Z3, just smaller.
