OnePlus One Pre-Orders Go Live Next Week

Up until now, the only way to get the OnePlus One directly from OnePlus itself was through its invite system. While it certainly helped to build up the hype surrounding the One, many of OnePlus’ social media contests have proven to be controversial. While the invite system won’t be entirely axed, OnePlus will finally launch a pre-order system, which was announced back in September, on October 27.

Starting at 8:00am PST (11:00am EST), you can place an order for either the 16GB or 64GB OnePlus One. At that time, OnePlus will sell the result of its collaboration with JBL, the OnePlus x JBL E1+ headphones, for $25. OnePlus will also offer discounts on accessories other than the headphones. Anyone interested can fill up their shopping cart and, once it’s time for purchase, can submit their payment and be on their merry way.

However, pre-ordering the OnePlus One won’t be a simple affair. So long as OnePlus has One handsets in its inventory when you submit your pre-order, you will be charged for the phone immediately and you’ll get a shipping confirmation soon after. If there aren’t One handsets, you’ll be placed in the equivalent of a waiting list. The new batch of handsets will increase or decrease in stock, based on demand, so your wait on the line could either be a short or long one. Customers won’t be charged for the One until it ships.

The bad news is that pre-orders will be limited to a one-hour window. After all, OnePlus doesn’t plan to replace the current invite system with its pre-order system. “While the pre-order system won’t completely replace the current invites method, it is certainly a huge step toward expanding the reach of OnePlus,” said the company in a blog post.

The 16GB and 64GB OnePlus One will go for the same $300 and $350, respectively.
