You won’t have to buy Roush’s RS-series Mustang to get a pony car with some extra kick, because Ford and the legendary tuner are offering a factory supercharger kit for the 2015 Mustang GT.
Announced at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, the kit will dial up the 5.0-liter V8’s output from 435 horsepower to “over” 600 hp. That’s already pretty close to the 662 hp produced by the outgoing Shelby Mustang GT500’s 5.8-liter supercharged V8.
The kit will be available later this year at select Ford dealerships, as well as retail outlets for Ford Racing and Roush. It comes with everything needed for installation, and the setup was calibrated at Ford Racing’s own test facility.

When installed by an authorized dealer, the supercharger even comes with a limited warranty.
Pricing and further details haven’t been released yet, but this supercharger could also form the basis for Roush’s own RS3 Mustang, which will offer the most extreme performance. The company is also expected to offer milder RS, RS1, and RS2 models.
Ford expected the Mustang’s new-for-2015 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder to get some attention from tuners at SEMA this year, but it’s hard to ignore an old-fashioned V8 with a different kind of forced induction.
