A Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series centers around House Forrester, the developer shared on its blog. The announcement confirms speculation from a recent string of cryptic tweets suggesting that the little-known northern house features prominently in the upcoming series.

The story kicks off near the end of the third season of HBO’s television adaptation, and the events of its six episodes run all the way through to the upcoming fifth season. The Forresters are loyal bannermen to the Glovers, and by extension the Starks of Winterfell. Their seat, the imposing Ironrath citadel, is located in the northern Wolfswood, but events of the series range across locations familiar to fans like King’s Landing and The Wall.

You control five different characters associated with House Forrester — either its named members or people in their employ — all of whom are spread out across Westeros and Essos. That many protagonists is a first for Telltale’s games, and a perfect reflection of the vast scope in creator George R.R. Martin’s world. The decisions of each character ripple out into unpredictable cascades of events, shaping the fate of House Forrester during the turbulent times of the War of Five Kings.

The Forrester’s have not appeared in HBO’s adaptation, and received only passing mention in the most recent book, A Dance with Dragons. The family represents a perfectly undeveloped little corner of the canon for Telltale to elaborate on. Game of Thrones – A Telltale Series debuts the first of six episodes in December 2014 for iOS, PlayStation, Windows, and Xbox platforms.
