For the most part, Bolt is exactly what you’d expect. It can be controlled remotely via smartphone app, turn on or off on a schedule, and even create custom lighting scenes that can be activated with a single button, much like Philips Hue or LIFX.
But that’s not to say the bulb is unremarkable. It’s got a few unique features that set it apart from other bulbs, including the ability to sync with Misfit’s entire line of fitness/health devices, which is pretty cool. For example, the bulb can be linked up to Misfit’s Beddit sleep tracking device, and automatically switch on in the morning when you’re at your lightest stage of sleep.
The bulb’s most impressive feature, however, is its pricetag. Starting today, Misfit is selling these badboys for 50 bucks a pop — $10 cheaper than Hue bulbs and $20 cheaper than LIFX ones. Fifty per bulb is definitely still on the spendy side, but if you’re in the market for a color-changing smart bulb, you’ll be hard pressed to find something more affordable
