For the opulent Mercedes-Maybach S600, the price of luxury is $189,350

We officially met the lavish Mercedes-Maybach S600 last year, and now, we know how much it costs.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed that stretched S-Class starts at $189,350 in the U.S, not including the $925 destination charge.

That’s a lot of money, but compared to the Maybach 57 that was produced from 2002 to 2013, Merc’s new “segment-leading flagship” actually quite a steal.

The Maybach 57 would set you back a gargantuan $366,934 back in 2008, which got you a 543-horsepower V12, ventilated massaging seats, a rear-seat DVD system, a 225.5-inch wheelbase, and a whole lot more.

For about half that, the new S600 offers a 523-hp twin-turbo V12, Magic Body Control suspension that leans into turns, and the latest and greatest in terms of interior refinement.

The executive rear seats are covered in smooth Nappa Leather, and every imagined convenience in within arm’s reach: a personalized TV, foldout tables, adjustable seats, a warmer/cooler for your drink, and yes, those silver-plated champagne flutes.

The Maybach also equips a Burmester 3D sound system, head-up display, heated windshield, and a separate climate control zone for each rear seat. If customers so choose, Mercedes’ exclusive ‘Agarwood’ fragrance provides the woody essence of an upscale getaway.

It’s all packed inside the S600’s 214.6-inch wheelbase that’s 8.1 inches longer than the standard model.

The S-Class is already the quietest car in the world according to Mercedes, and the Maybach version has even less wind noise for rear passengers. All the better to mute the harsh tones of reality outside this pillow–lined chariot.

In the United States, the wait for Mercedes-Benz's first mass-market electric car just got longer.

Mercedes pushed back the U.S. launch of its EQC crossover until 2021, multiple media outlets have reported. That's about a year after the first-quarter 2020 target Mercedes was originally aiming for. The delay is due to high demand for the EQC in Europe, where the model launched earlier in 2019.

The Kia EV9 was already one of the cheapest ways to get an electric SUV, but now the company is taking things to the next level. After teasing the Kia EV3 last year, the car is now official.

The EV3 is built to be a slightly smaller, cheaper version of the EV9 -- following the path of the Rivian R2, which arrived after the Rivian R1S. It's certainly not as technologically advanced as the EV9, but it still looks unmistakably like a modern Kia, and is clearly a sibling of the larger SUV. On the outside, the vehicle has the same split taillights and very similar Tiger Face front. But it is quite a bit smaller. The vehicle will be available in nine finishes -- however only "Aventurine Green" and "Terracotta" are being announced right now.
