Grand Theft Auto V will flex your PC graphics card’s muscles with lush 4K visuals

Rockstar Games has released a new batch of high-resolution screenshots for the upcoming Windows PC port of Grand Theft Auto V, set to release on April 14.

Optimized for all the latest PC hardware, the sky is the limit for the visuals in this edition of the game. These new images show off the game’s new compatibility with 4K monitors. Take note of the details: the city lights reflected on the glossy black of a car’s hood; the white, churning wake behind a speedboat; beams of soft, fog-filtered light slipping through trees in the forest. GTA V has always been a pretty game in all of its versions, but this edition promises to look definitively the best.

Along with GTA V comes its associated online version, GTA Online, including the long-anticipated cooperative heists that finally made their way to the game’s console versions in March. While you wait for the April release, you can brush up on strategy with our handy guide and start assembling your team for the perfect crime.

It’s almost time. After over a decade of waiting, we’ll finally get our first look at the next Grand Theft Auto game sometime this December. Although Rockstar has said little about the project before now, GTA 6 might be one of the most anticipated games ever, and it’s following up one of the most successful individual video games of all time. Speculation on where this game will be set, what it will be about, and what innovations it will bring to the medium have been rampant for years. I know this because I’ve played a part in this hype cycle myself -- and this very article is adding to it right now.

That impatience boiled over last year when Rockstar suffered a major security breach that saw early footage from the game leaking. Now the studio is finally ready to reveal the game on its own terms.
