It may be a little early to start thinking about the back-to-school shopping season, but HP is already preparing for the crowds.
The company on April 22 announced its 2015 back-to-school notebooks, which include the HP Pavilion x360, the GP Envy x360, and a series of customizable HP Pavilion notebooks. With its small size and affordable price, the HP Pavilion x360 is perhaps the most eye-catching of all the options.
The updated HP Pavilion x360 will have a touchscreen display that can be turned 360 degrees, giving the notebook a tablet-like feel. Consumers can choose from a 1366×768 pixel or 1920×1080 pixel IPS display.
Those who opt for the 11.6-inch model will have up to 8.25 hours of battery life, 8GB of RAM and a 32 Whr battery. Consumers can also select an Intel Celeron, Pentium or Core M-5Y10C processor for the notebook.
The model is also available in 13.3 inches, an option that comes with a Core i5 Broadwell processor and a 48 Whr battery. It has 16GB of RAM and 13 hours of battery life.
“Customers told us that they wanted more color choices, more hardware options, and better battery life in our Pavilion notebooks and x360 convertible PCs,” said Mike Nash, vice president of portfolio strategy and customer experience at HP. “With our 2015 Pavilion line-up, we have combined bold new colors from Milan with the latest processors to give customers systems with a fresh new look that deliver better performance and battery life across the board.”
One key difference worth noting between the two model variations is that the 11.6-inch version is fanless. However, each edition has two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an SD card reader and an Ethernet jack. Official prices have not been listed yet, but the company has shared the following samples:
- 6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Pentium N3700, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive for $410
- 6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Core M-5Y10C, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD for $500
- 3 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Core i3 CPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD for $530
The HP Pavilion x360 convertible will be available on the HP website starting on May 13.
