Apple updated its mobile app for its Worldwide Developers Conference, which will be held June 8 through June 12 at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center.

The app provides attendees with information on upcoming sessions, news, venue maps, and videos. This year, the WWDC App also works on the Apple Watch, making it easier to access conference information right from your wrist. Developers attending WWDC will be able to add their pass to Passbook for a much faster check-in, too. Those with watches will be able to simply flash their wrists to enter the building.

If you’re unable to make the event, you can watch streaming video sessions from the WWDC app. As of right now, the app only features videos from previous years, but will change when WWDC 2015 starts. At that point, users will have access to content from the many events at the conference.

The WWDC 2015 app version 3.0 will also give users the ability to add sessions to their calendar, listen to session audio after they’ve left the app or locked on their device, and give feedback on session videos from the Videos tab.

Apple’s WWDC will feature over 100 technical sessions this year, presented by Apple engineers, and tons of hands-on labs, so there will be a lot of content to check out in the app.

Last year, Apple unveiled iOS 8 and Yosemite. This year, the focus will be on iOS 9 and OS X 11. It’s been said that OS X 11 and iOS 9 will look alike and will offer a wide range of tasks. It’s been rumored that Apple will reveal a revamped Beats Music streaming service and a new streaming TV service. There’s also a chance Apple could unveil additional development kits, and who knows if we’ll get a chance to see the new hardware.

This year’s keynote will take place on Monday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. PST. Apple will stream portions of WWDC 2015 on its website and on the app. You can download the WWDC 2015 app from the App Store here.

The Google app on your Android phone is getting a helpful new feature
Google app on Android beta showing Notifications.

The Google app for Android phones is getting a helpful new feature to make search even better. The latest beta has a dedicated "Notifications" feed in its bottom bar. The feature was first introduced on the mobile version of Google for Android earlier this year. The app feature was first noticed by 9to5Google.

The app now includes a Notifications option at the bottom, next to Discover, Search, and Saved items. The Notifications section displays a continuous list of alerts from Google Search, weather conditions, flight information, sports scores, movies and TV shows, and more. The notifications are grouped under “Today” and “Earlier." This feature should prove handy if you miss a notification from the Google app, as it provides a more focused view than Android's system-level history.

Here are the 7 new emoji coming to your iPhone with iOS 18
2024 emoji.

It's that time of year again! The Unicode Consortium has released a preview of new emoji that will likely be included in a version of iOS 18 later this year or early next year. It will be up to Apple to officially add them to the next iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, and visionOS versions.

The new emoji announced today include ones for a sleepy face, fingerprint, leafless tree, vegetable root, harp, shovel, and splatter. The emoji examples provided by Unicode serve as starting points for Apple designers to create finished designs and are not the final images Apple will use. Google and other platform users will also work with these emoji as a starting point.

Apple may release a completely new type of iPhone in 2025
iPhone 15 Pro Max laying outside in a park.

The iPhone 16 isn’t even out yet, but that hasn’t stopped rumors about the iPhone 17 from swirling already. One of the latest comes from The Information, and it claims that a thinner iPhone 17 may be released in 2025 as a completely new addition to the lineup. It’s reported to be code-named D23 internally, and it’s expected to be a major redesign — potentially as big of a redesign as the iPhone X was in 2017.

The main changes for the D23 iPhone are a very thin body and a smaller cutout in the display. There’s also some talk that Apple may replace the Dynamic Island with a pinhole cutout, and we may see that as soon as the anticipated iPhone 16 launch this fall. Other changes might include moving the rear camera from the upper-left corner to the top center. The screen could fall somewhere between the 6.1 inches of the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
