Sci-fi legend, photographer, and deep thinker Leonard Nimoy sadly passed away early this year. But his spirit will live on via an indelible legacy in pop culture and beyond — including hit nerd-themed sitcom Big Bang Theory. An upcoming episode of the series will host Nimoy’s son Adam as a guest star, reports Variety.
The actor best known for his role as Spock in Star Trek never appeared as himself on Big Bang, though he was often a topic of discussion given that the lead characters are devoted “Trekkies.” In this new episode, entitled The Spock’s Resonance, Adam Nimoy will guest star as himself, looking to get Sheldon (played by Jim Parson’s) to appear in a documentary about his father. It’s a bit of art imitating life, as the young Nimoy is, indeed, working on a documentary in real life. No word on whether the Big Bang Theory cast will be included.

Wil Wheaton, a frequent guest star on the show and former cast member of Star Trek, is also set to appear in the episode. Wheaton often appears as an embellished version of himself, and a sort of frenemy of Sheldon’s.
The Big Bang Theory paid tribute to Nimoy following his death by displaying a short message and photo of the actor in the episode following his passing.
The new Spock-centric episode will air on Thursday, November 5 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
Adam Nimoy’s real-life documentary will be entitled For the Love of Spock and will likely be released some time next year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. It will be narrated by Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek reboots.
In addition to being an entertainment lawyer and former music executive, the 59-year-old Nimoy is also a TV director, having worked on shows like NYPD Blue, Ally McBeal, and Gilmore Girls.
