The upcoming Wonder Woman movie already has its leading lady and her love interest, and now the project is reportedly adding some serious star power in the form of Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman.

The casting of Kidman in a mystery role was first reported by The Wrap, and has yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros. Pictures. According to the report, Kidman will play “a high-ranking Amazonian warrior” in the film, leading to speculation that she’ll play Wonder Woman’s mother, Queen Hippolyta.

If the report proves true, Kidman will join previously announced cast members Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, who will play the DC Comics superhero and her love interest, Steve Trevor, respectively.

In the wake of the news, there has also been speculation that Kidman might play Circe, a sorceress who has been a frequent foe of Wonder Woman over the years.

A three-time Academy Award nominee and a winner for her role in 2002’s The Hours, Kidman has some experience with DC Comics properties thanks to her featured role in 1995’s Batman Forever. She played Dr. Chase Meridian in that film, which starred Val Kilmer as Batman, Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face, Jim Carrey as The Riddler, and Chris O’Donnell as Robin.

Now set to be directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster), Wonder Woman was initially planned as a project for Breaking Bad director Michelle McLaren, but the filmmaker left the project back in April 2015 due to creative differences with the studio. Jenkins was announced as the new director a short time later.

Although the film is currently scheduled to premiere in 2017, Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in next year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. After her solo film, Wonder Woman is also expected to play an important role in Justice League: Part One later that year.

Wonder Woman will arrive in theaters June 23, 2017.

How to watch the DC movies in order
Barry Allen in the Flash suit looking to the distance in The Flash.

DC movies are in a weird place right now. Four of the DC Extended Universe films are being released this year, and two of them, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, have already hit theaters. What makes it strange is that the DCEU as we know it is going to come to an end with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in December 2023. In 2025, James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios films will start the new DC Universe with Superman: Legacy, which will be a true fresh start for the franchise.

Where does that leave fans of the DCEU? All of those DC movies are still on Max (formerly HBO), and those films aren't going anywhere unless Warner Bros. Discovery really wants another huge tax break. That means you can watch any and all of them at a moment's notice, except for The Flash which has only just hit theaters. As for the rest, you have two options to watch them in order: Chronologically or by release date. And in this post, we'll give you the correct order for both.

Most popular DCEU movies, ranked by box-office gross
Justice League character shot.

Beginning with 2013's Man of Steel, the DC Extended Universe has had a tumultuous 10-year run. While some of its films were tremendous success stories, some didn't fare so well, and others have gone down as some of the worst superhero movies ever made.

All this has given the franchise a mixed reputation and has made some audiences eager to see how James Gunn will reboot everything with his new DC Universe. As the DCEU nears its end, now is a good time to rank the most popular movies in this cinematic universe in terms of box-office gross.

Is Nicole Kidman the bravest actress of her generation? Arguably, yes. That might sound a bit hyperbolic, considering some of her contemporaries include mighty actresses like Viola Davis, Cate Blanchett, Laura Linney, and Olivia Colman. However, there's something about Kidman that makes her unique among the best of the best. No actress can quite do what she does, including starring in costume pictures, superhero films, bizarre indie movies, highly stylized television dramas, and even an oddly beloved ad for AMC Theaters.

It's not just her seemingly perfect face --  that appears to be sculpted by either a higher power, genetics, or highly skilled mortal doctors - or her undeniable talent, which took her from Australian television to the height of Hollywood success. No, Nicole Kidman's biggest asset is her unflinching bravery, a sense of courage that endows her résumé with a level of acclaim and diversity that few other actresses match.
