Withings’ Activité Steel looks as gorgeous as the original, but for a fraction of the price

Christmas shopping for the fitness freak who also happens to be a fashionista can be tough. Let’s face it — the wearable fitness trackers on the market aren’t always the most elegant timepieces available, and disguising a bulky health monitor as anything but can be tough. Until now. Say hello to Activité Steel, the latest release from Boston-based health tech company Withings. Steel, the newest addition to Withing’s Activité line of stylish trackers, features some of the high-end looks of the original Swiss-made Activité, but at a price point that’s closer to the Activité Pop.

“While the tracker market is booming we see growing demand from health conscious people who are not willing to compromise their style,” says Cédric Hutchings, CEO of Withings. “Steel is the perfect Christmas gift for those demanding trendsetters.”

For $170, even the most finicky of your fashion and fitness friends can find satisfaction with the Activité Steel’s stainless steel case, chrome hands, silicone straps, and “a tachymeter-inspired sub-dial that appears to be taken directly from a high performance sports car.” Much like the other watches turned trackers in the line, Activité Steel has two separate hand dials, a regular dial that tells time and a sub-dial that displays the percentage of your daily fitness goal that you’ve achieved.

You can set this goal by way of the free Withings Health Mate application, which you can download from both the iOS and Android app stores (and by the way, the app was named one of Apple’s Best Apps of 2014). And because the Steel intuitively knows when you’re doing different activities, distinguishing easily between your leisurely stroll, your jog, and your swim, you can stay up to date on all fitness progress. Better still, Withings notes that the Steel automatically transitions into sleep monitoring mode at night.

With the same standard watch battery that keeps your other timepieces running, you won’t have to worry about charging the Steel on a regular basis. Instead, the battery should last for around eight months, and is water-resistant up to 50 meters to boot.

If you’re interested, you can grab one on Withings’ website for $170.

Razer Anzu smart glasses deal knocks $140 off the price tag
The Razer Anzu smart glasses placed on top of an open book.

While smartwatch deals have slowly claimed their place in the mainstream, smart glasses haven't turned out to be as popular. Gaming-focused brand Razer, however, is trying to renew interest in smart glasses with the Razer Anzu, which you can currently purchase from Best Buy at $140 off. If you'd like to give them a try, they're available for just $60, less than half their original price of $200.

There have been failures like the Google Glass and Snap Spectacles, and hopeful attempts like Oppo's Air Glass and Apple's secretive project, but the Razer Anzu smart glasses take a different spin on the wearable device by designing them for indoors. While they come with polarized sunglass lenses, their clear lenses are more useful with their blue light filter, which protects your eyes from screen glare to prevent discomfort even after hours of playing video games or working from home. The smart glasses, which also have a built-in omnidirectional microphone and speakers, may also be more comfortable to wear for an extended period of time compared to headsets and headphones. You'll enjoy smooth, stutter-free sound with the Razer Anzu's low latency audio with a 60ms Bluetooth connection.
