If style and function are important attributes you look for in a camera bag, add ONA to your shortlist. The bag maker, inspired with a passion for photography and high-quality goods, has several new camera bags, including the Black Collection, the Bowery for Leica, and Prince Street. And what we love about ONA’s bags is that while they are made for cameras, they can be easily repurposed for everyday use.
The Black Collection, designed for traveling photographers (or travelers with photo gear), includes the Hamilton rolling camera bag and duffle, the Nylon Camps Bay backpack, and the Nylon Brixton messenger bag. The line has a uniform look, constructed from 1050D ballistic nylon with Italian leather accents and solid brass hardware with a gunmetal finish. While sturdy, the bags are lightweight, durable, and water-resistant.
The Hamilton ($589) is the flagship bag. The main compartment is dedicated for cameras, lenses, flashes, and other camera gear; a zippered sleep can accommodate a 15-inch laptop, as well as a few magazines or other paperwork. A duffle section is for clothing or other non-camera goods. The bag complies with most current carry-on regulations, and it weighs 8.5 pounds when empty.
The Nylon Camps Bay backpack ($409) has a good amount of space for cameras and gear; the bag can hold a DSLR with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens attached, plus additional lenses. Like the Hamilton, it has a padded compartment with adjustable padding to fit to your specific equipment. It can also hold a 17-inch laptop and other personal items. For those who prefer a messenger-style bag, there’s the Nylon Brixton ($279), which can hold a 13-inch laptop.
Rounding out the collection is the Brixton messenger bag for $279. It weighs 3.1 pounds and measures 13.5-inches by 10.5-inches by 5-inches. One pocket holds a 13-inch laptop, while the main compartment with adjustable padding can hold a DSLR or mirrorless camera plus a few lenses and other gear. Additional front pockets hold a few small personal items.
For Leica-toting street photographers, ONA created the Bowery, a classic-looking, full-grain Italian leather messenger bag ($279) made in collaboration with Leica, down to the red lined foam interior that’s the camera maker’s signature color. While ONA says it’s designed to fit Leica M, Q, T, X, and SL models, you can also use it for other similarly compact cameras, plus one or two lenses. There are antique brass accents, and there are five exterior pockets for small accessories. This bag is available at ONA’s online store or at Leica stores in the U.S.
Finally, there’s the Prince Street, a collaboration with 100cameras, a New York City-based nonprofit that helps youngsters learn about photography and turn their work into sellable products that benefit their communities. Unlike the aforementioned bags, $25 of every Prince Street bag sold on ONA’s website will go toward 100cameras’ efforts – a stylish bag, with a cause. Like the Bowery, the Prince Street is a messenger bag that can hold a camera and a lens or two, as well as an 11-inch laptop or tablet. It’s made with wax canvas with leather details. In addition to a shoulder strap, there’s also a handle. The bag features 100cameras’ logo and slogan, “Give Photography, Change a Community.”
