Life is Strange limited edition is coming to PC

The surprise hit Life is Strange originally released as a digital-only title on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC, and a few weeks ago, publisher Square Enix announced that the game would be making its way to physical shelves, but this version was only confirmed for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, it has now been confirmed that the physical version of Life is Strange will also be released on PC.

While the PC version of the Life is Strange limited edition — complete with a soundtrack CD and artbook — will still require a Steam account to run, it will still include a physical game disc, according to the official announcement from Square Enix’s Scott Blows. It will still be a little tricky to get your hands on, as it’s only being sold through the Square Enix store, and it appears that they’re limited to North America.

“Life started getting strange,” protagonist Max says with appropriate teenage angst at the end of the physical game’s teaser trailer. While I waited for Max to actually call life “strange” during the course of the game’s five episodes, she always seemed to have another word in mind, including my personal favorite: “life is … weird.”

If you’ve already completed Life is Strange and just want to get your hands on more of Dontnod’s work, then you might be in luck: according to a Reddit translation, Dontnod’s Alain Damasio announced that a sequel would be developed. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, given the less-than-stellar reception of the studio’s previous game, Remember Me (which we called a “vapid brawler” that “could hardly be considered anything close to art”) as well as the more flexible digital, episode release model.

The limited edition of Life is Strange launches in stores on January 19. It’s taking everything in my power not to double-dip.

A massive PC upgrade could arrive in 2025
DDR5 memory installed into a motherboard.

Rumors are starting to circulate about DDR6 memory, and it could arrive sooner than you think. A rumor posted by DarkmontTech shows some preliminary targets for next-gen DDR6 memory, and it sounds like a massive upgrade.

There isn't any information about where this slide is from, but it claims that DDR6 is on track for release sometime next year with a massive bump to speed, which lines up with some early rumors about DDR6 from a few years ago. The slide says that speeds of 8.8 GT/s to 17.6 GT/s are expected for the initial version, and that could climb all the way up to 21 GT/s. For reference, DDR5 operates between 4.8 GT/s and 6.4 GT/s, with some newer kits reaching up to 8.4 GT/s.

Kingdom Hearts is about to consume your life on Steam
From left: Goofy, Sora, and Donald Duck about to fight in Kingdom Hearts

Square Enix announced Monday that many games in its Kingdom Hearts series are finally coming to Steam on June 13. So, if you've never played a Kingdom Hearts game before or just want to own it on another platform, you're in luck.

Kingdom Hearts is an expansive, gigantic series, so not every game is coming to Steam. Some of them were mobile exclusive, for example. That said, 10 games will be available, including the mainline series, along with a bunch of side games that add details to the story.

HP just reset its entire PC lineup
The HP OmniBook X AI PC.

In the new AI PC era, HP is starting fresh with an entirely new branding structure to highlight the power and performance of a fresh set of computers.

While many people may be familiar with the company’s Pavilion, Envy, and Spectre products on the consumer side and the Dragonfly devices for enterprise options, HP will now retire these lines and overhaul its options under two main lines: consumer and commercial. These include the Omni brand for consumers and the Elite brand for commercial. The company unveiled its inaugural products for each line, the HP OmniBook X AI PC and HP EliteBook Ultra AI PC, on Monday during Microsoft’s AI Vision event. I got to see the new devices ahead of the event and check out how this new branding and design looks in person.
A new beginning
These models will be the beginning of an overall brand expansion for HP. On the consumer side, the company plans to have several forms and tiers of Omni products with the goal of making customer selection simpler. Notably, HP plans to keep its Omen gaming PC brand intact during this restructuring.
