Love stars Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs as Gus and Mickey, a very different duo. Gus is described as the “nice guy” and Mickey the “brazen wild-child,” yet they explore love (hence the title), intimacy, commitment, and more throughout the series. The comedy comes from Apatow, Rust, and Lesley Afrin, who teamed up as its creators, writers, and executive producers. Brent Forrester and Dean Holland also executive produce.
The teaser doesn’t give us a look at Rust and Jacobs in action, but it does provide a look at the brand of humor we can expect from the series. In it, viewers are shown a number of resolutions for 2016, ranging from the usual suspects (e.g., “Be grateful” and “Stop judging”) to the non-traditional (e.g., “Be less insane,” “Have more sext,” and “Get a weed card”). Based on what we’ve seen so far, it seems safe to say that Love will be candid and edgy, plus have its fair share of non-kid-friendly moments.
The series, which got at least a two-season commitment early on, will be available on Netflix on February 19, with the entire 10-episode first season being released at once. With half-hour episodes, Love seems likely to get viewers binge-watching.
