Zac Efron and Seth Rogen join forces to take down a sorority in new Neighbors 2 trailer

The boys next door may have been the problem in Neighbors, but girls are taking over the trouble-making in the sequel to the 2014 hit. Universal Pictures has released the first Neighbors 2 trailer, and it’s another war against Greeks for parents Mac and Kelly (played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne). This time, however, they’ll have help from former adversaries Teddy and Pete (Zac Efron and Dave Franco) as they battle a new challenge.

The comedy centers on a couple expecting their second child and hoping to sell their house and move to the suburbs. Unfortunately, their plans are complicated when a group of girls, rebelling against inequalities in their school’s Greek system, move in next door to start a new kind of sorority — one that violates school rules to throw massive parties. Worried about how this will affect the sale of their home, Mac and Kelly hatch a plan to force their unruly neighbors out.

Based on the trailer, the Kappa Nu sisters, led by Shelby (Chloe Grace Moretz), are just as bad — if not worse — than their predecessors. The preview shows how Mac’s hopes that the girls will be quieter and less drug-addled than boys prove to be incorrect. He and his wife find that worked against the guys isn’t effective this time around, so they call in “somebody who can relate to stupid young people”: Teddy.

In addition to Rogen, Byrne, Efron, and Franco, Neighbors 2 brings back Ike Barinholtz and Carla Gallo. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez and Lisa Kudrow join Moretz as newcomers. The flick is directed by Nicholas Stoller, who teamed up with Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Andrew Jay Cohen, and Brendan O’Brien to write the script. O’Brien, Cohen, Nathan Kahane, and Joe Drake served as executive producers, with Rogen, Goldberg, and James Weaver producing.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising will hit theaters on May 20.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 28-30)
A girl looks at a boy in House at the End of the Street.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.

The best Netflix original series right now
Eric and Benedict Cumberbatch in Eric.

The era of Peak TV was also Peak Netflix, because the streamer seemingly had an endless supply of new original series. So far in 2024, that hasn't been the case. Whether we'll ever get the same level of content again seems unlikely for now. But even in a reduced capacity, Netflix still has a few new additions to its lineup of originals.

For the month of June, we're adding the '80s-set thriller, Eric, which stars Benedict Cumbebatch. Our other pick for the month is Supacell, which is Netflix's new British series that remixes some old superhero archetypes. That's not a very big selection for fans who always want something new, but this roundup of the best Netflix original series really does have all of the top options in one place for you. All you have to do is scroll down and make time to binge watch some shows.
