Those who have been counting the days until the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will have to count a little longer, as the game — originally slated to be released in 2015 — has been delayed yet again, this time to May 10.

“As you know, Naughty Dog is wrapping up production on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with the game on track to go gold and into production later this month,” SCEA president and CEO Shawn Layden wrote yesterday on the PlayStation Blog. “In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one, we have chosen to postpone the launch of the game by two weeks to allow for extra manufacturing time.”

Uncharted 4 is already no stranger to delays. After the game was pushed from 2015 to March 2016, it was pushed back once again by a month in the final days of 2015. For gamers who have been waiting since 2011’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for another game in the franchise, this will hopefully be the last time the game is delayed.

“We know this news might be disappointing, and we are sorry to have to make you wait a little longer to play Naughty Dog’s latest,” Layden writes. “The good news is that the game is phenomenal — we are fully confident that it will be worth the wait and the team at Naughty Dog is eager as ever for you to experience Nathan Drake’s final adventure.”

If nothing else, the delay will give gamers a little longer to decide which version of the game two buy. In addition to the standard $60 version of the game, two different collector’s editions will be available. The Special Edition of Uncharted 4 sells for $80 and includes a steelbook case, art book, and sticker sheet, while the $120 Libertalia Collector’s Edition includes all that and a statue of Nathan Drake.

As has been the case with many high-profile PlayStation 4 game releases, Uncharted 4 is also getting its own limited-edition version of the console. The console and controller both come in a color that Sony calls “Gray Blue,” with the console featuring the Uncharted logo and PlayStation logo in a classy-looking gold.

PlayStation VR2 production reportedly paused by Sony
PlayStation VR2 headset on blue background.

Sony is reportedly pausing production of the PlayStation VR2 headsets because it has a backlog of unsold headsets.

This report comes from Bloomberg, which claims that PSVR2 sales have slowed every quarter since its February 2023 release, causing stocks of the device to build up. It says Sony has produced 2 million headsets but reportedly hasn't sold through them yet. As a result, it's apparently pausing the production on new units until it works through some of that backlog, according to Bloomberg's anonymous sources.

PS4 vs. PS5: which console should you buy in 2024?
PlayStation 5 controller and PS5.

PlayStation 5 has been available for several years now, and it's easier than ever to find it in stock at retailers. The new-gen hardware makes big upgrades over its predecessor, letting gamers enjoy better graphics, shorter loading times, and support for the fancy DualSense controller. It's also much more expensive than PS4, so while PS5 is better than PS4 in most regards, it might not be ideal for frugal shoppers.

But is PS4 or PS5 the better choice in 2024? Does the aging PS4 really make sense to purchase right now, or should you opt for the PS5? From pricing and available games to storage and resolution, here's a closer look at these two popular consoles.
PS5 vs. PS4 vs. PS4 Pro specs
Even a cursory glance at the specs of the PS5 shows that it’s in a different league than the PS4 (and even the PS4 Pro). Sony has improved the capabilities of its platform in every way, adding more efficient storage, faster compute parts, support for larger capacity disks, and support for higher resolutions. We know there are two versions of the PS5 -- the Standard Edition and Digital Edition -- both of which will offer the same specs (with the exception of the omission of a disc drive with the Digital Edition).
