Technology may be turning the world into a smaller place, but it’s still one fully packed with possibilities. And in order to keep track of the countless number of things to do, places to see, and spots to make your own, the French have come up with Mapstr, the bookmarking app that helps expand your mind by outsourcing your memory. And now, the app has gotten even better, as it’s finally added directions (or really, a map) to its functionality.
First launched last summer, Mapstr was already a handy tool for keeping tabs on places worth revisiting (or visiting for the first time). But there was one key component missing — navigation. Sure, you could remember where you had the best tiramisu of your life, but if you wanted to get there, you’d have to close out the app, open a different app, and type in an address or location.
But no longer.
Now, and from within the Mapstr app, you can tap on the directions button and find yourself confronted by a plethora of options (well, three). First off, there’s the Uber integration, which will tell you how long it’ll take you to get from point A to a desired destination, and how much you’ll have to pay to make the trip.
Then, there’s Google Maps, which is as straightforward as you’d want it to be — you’ll get both walking and driving directions to your point of interest (and ostensibly, how long that would take, too). And Mapstr has separately partnered with Citymapper so that you can check out your mass transit and other public transportation options.
According to TechCrunch, it seems that the folks over at Uber and Citymapper were big fans of Mapstr themselves, which made the integration much easier to carry out. And now that the French app has unlimited API access, there’s no telling what else you’ll be able to bookmark, discover, and finally get to with Mapstr.
