Forgot to take your meds? Ditch the plastic pill container for a smart tracking hub

Meet PillDrill
It can be easy to lose track of daily medication, even with those day-of-the-week containers. You might have a reminder on your phone, but that won’t help if you left your pills at home. The PillDrill could help those who are searching for a better way to keep track of the medications they need to take every day.

pill drillThe smart medication tracking system was created by Peter Havas, former CTO of Specialty’s Cafe & Bakery. It consists of a small hub that could be mistaken for an alarm clock, a pill strip similar to the ones pharmacies sell, scanning tags, and a tracker called the Mood Cube. It’s definitely a lot more gear than a single box, but it’s much smarter, too. The hub connects to your Wi-Fi and will give you audio-visual notifications when you’re due to take your pills. You can either affix a scannable tag to your pill bottle or put individual doses into the system’s RFID pods. After taking your pills, simply wave the tagged bottle or pod over the hub and it will record that the medicine was taken.

You can keep track of your doses and or your family members’ via the PillDrill app. This way, you don’t have to constantly ask your parents if they’ve remembered to take their pills. After setting up the hub with the app or web account, it will connect to the app and send out updates to inform you if and when the pills have been taken. The app can also be used to manually schedule and label medications. Another feature that the PillDrill offers is the Mood Cube. The gadget is designed to monitor your reactions to the medication. It has five faces: great, good, okay, bad, and awful. Keeping track of these reactions can help your doctor when it comes to changing your dosage.

The PillDrill is now available for $199 and will begin shipping towards the end of May.
