Persona 5 will arrive on store shelves more than eight years after the launch of series predecessor Persona 4, which spawned numerous spinoffs in the years following its initial release.
Part of the Atlus-produced Shin Megami Tensei series, Persona 5 features a storyline in which players can befriend demons and call upon their powers in battle. Combat otherwise follows a turn-based structure common to traditional console RPGs, though players have a number of strategic options at their disposal, including team-up attacks with their fellow party members.
Starting today, series devotees can lock in a pre-order for Persona 5‘s “Take Your Heart” Premium Edition, which includes a retail copy of Persona 5 for the PlayStation 4 along with exclusive bonuses like a hardcover art book, a Morgana character figurine, and a soundtrack CD featuring music from series composer Shoji Meguro.
Persona 5‘s Premium Edition also includes a full-size shoulder bag featuring the crest of Shujin Academy, one of the game’s key locations. The “Take Your Heart” version of Persona 5 is currently up for pre-order at Amazon for $90.
Fans who don’t want to pitch in the extra cash for Persona 5‘s Premium Edition can instead pre-order a launch-exclusive SteelBook Edition for $60. The SteelBook Edition includes a collectible case in addition to a bonus soundtrack CD, along with a disc copy of Persona 5 for the PlayStation 4.
Atlus will not issue limited editions for the PlayStation 3 version of Persona 5, which is up for pre-order today at $50.
Persona 5 will launch first in Japan on September 15, 2016. An English-language version will hit North American shores on February 14, 2017.
