Five Firsts of the Optimus G
With a plethora of highly anticipated smartphones expected in the final third of the year, LG joins the fray with the super sexy Optimus G. No ordinary handset, this beast of a smartphone has recently been the talk of the industry, introducing a number of industry-firsts.
First Quad-Core LTE Smartphone with Snapdragon S4 Pro
If speed is your game, Optimus G is the name to remember. The Optimus G will be the first Quad-Core smartphone with LTE powered by Qualcomm’s newest and fastest performing Snapdragon S4 Pro. This monster of a chipset realizes high-performance with its unique Quad-Core Krait CPU and the newest generation Adreno™ 320 GPU. The Quad-Core Krait CPU can each clock up to 1.7GHz and includes Asynchronous Symmetric Multiprocessing (aSMP), enabling each core to power up and down independently according to the task. The result is incredible performance and long-lasting battery power.
The Snapdragon S4 Pro also provides a much enhanced gaming experience with faster frame rates, smoother play and support for higher HD resolution displays.
According to recent independent benchmark tests, the Snapdragon S4 Pro-based MDP easily outperformed its competitors in terms of speed, performance, battery life and graphics – performing near PC standards. As a result, Qualcomm’s next-generation Quad-Core processor delivers more than 40 percent greater CPU performance, more than 3 times better graphics and optimal power efficiency than the existing Quad-Core processors – which basically makes LG’s new Optimus G one extremely powerful LTE smartphone.
First use of Zerogap Touch for Real Touch
It’s nice to be part of a conglomerate. Working with its vertically-integrated sister companies, LG incorporated the industry-first Zerogap Touch technology into the Optimus G.
As the first smartphone with the Zerogap Touch, the Optimus G boasts a cover glass that’s different from typical touch screen cover glass. While the others are typically topped with ITO film or a glass sensor, the Zerogap Touch has an ITO sensor film printed directly on the glass, removing the air gap that is normally trapped between the two elements.
The result is greater touch sensitivity offering users an immersive and real-touch sensing experience. The Zerogap Touch technology also reduces the thickness of the display (3.08t to 2.2t), offering the slimmest design and sharpest viewing. Even outside, the super-thin unibody form eliminates diffused reflection.
First clear view with True HD IPSPlus Display
LG Optimus G will be the first device introduced with the True HD IPSPlus Display. The 4.7-inch screen boasts a 2.95-mega HD display with 320 ppi (pixels per inch) pixel density and Stripe RGB IPS Panel (1280 x 768 / WXGA) to offer the sharpest and clearest viewing.
In addition, the new display delivers 1.6 times clearer images than AMOLED displays and twice brighter and sharper images in outdoor settings. Also, the display includes 400 nit of brightness, which consumes 70% less power when displaying a white background.
First Quad-Core LTE Smartphone with 13MP camera that captures all the details
If you’re the type of person who loves taking pictures with your smartphone and are obsessed with uploading onto your SNS, , then we have some good news for you! LG is setting a new standard with its Optimus G. The Optimus G will be the first LG smartphone with a whopping 13MP high-resolution camera offering the best image quality in the smartphone market. Comparatively, the Optimus G will provide much better image quality than that of the Galaxy S III (8MP) and iPhone 5 (8MP).
From the 13MP Optimus G camera lens, you can clearly see the rough texture of a paper and the vibrant texture of a flower petal. As a result, users will be able to print out extra-large pictures without any issues of pixelation.
Despite having a 13MP camera module, additional state-of-the art technologies from LG Innotek were integrated to reduce the width of the Optimus G. An ultra thin, large diameter lens and High Accuracy PKG technology contributed to the development of the ultra-compact camera.
First long-lasting battery lifespan of 800 cycles
We all know short battery life is one of the biggest complaints of smartphone users and so LG tackled this issue with a newly developed battery technology working with LG Chem. The life expectancy of an average smartphone battery is around 500 charging cycles and LG looks to have extended this life cycle to 800 while keeping the battery the same size. Battery updates allow the Optimus G to run about 60 times more efficiently. The extension of the battery life cycle to 800, a PC standard, is the first for a mobile device.
Moreover, the new super-strength battery technology allows the Optimus G battery to be slimmer and lighter to fit the thin and sleek design of the device as an embedded battery.
So, there you have it. These are five firsts of the Optimus G and how it differs from other smartphones. The Optimus G may currently be a ‘hidden jewel’ in the smartphone market, but as you can see, LG’s industry-firsts in its hardware may just blow the competition out of the water.
