It looks like the Silicon Valley has a long way to go before it is an inclusive environment for everyone. In fact, a recent report from Mic exposes a number of emails highlighting how bad things have fared for at least some women who work at Apple.

Unfortunately, while Apple and other large tech companies say they are working on being a little more inclusive of everyone, women make up 32 percent of Apple’s workforce and some of the emails suggest they are subjected to sexist treatment.

For example, a female engineer details a situation when a male-dominated team of engineers made jokes about an intruder coming into the office to “rape everyone.” The engineer sent an email to CEO Tim Cook but she never got a reply. However, Cook did make a few headlines about responding to emails to complete strangers. In another case, a meeting composed of all men, save for one woman, turned to the men stereotyping women as nags and complaining about their significant others. The manager in the situation did not make any attempt to change the course of the conversation. That same person was later told to “smile” as the walked to the break room.

“While this is a small thing, it was notable as this is one of the most commonly reported forms of subtle sexism,” the female engineer said in the Mic report.

These concerns are not unique to female employees. A male employee spoke to Mic about the work environment and went as far as to make a complaint to Cook. The employee reported that co-workers made comments about him having his “man period” to insinuate he was overly emotional.

An Apple spokesperson commented in the Mic report by saying the company takes the complaints seriously but that it would not comment on specific incidents. Digital Trends has reached out to Apple and will update this story with its reply.

Apple on Thursday reported record revenue for its most recent quarter, thanks largely to strong sales of the new iPhone 13.

Despite ongoing challenges caused by the global chip shortage, the tech giant reported earnings of $123.9 billion for the three-month period ending December 25, 2021 -- a significant increase over the $111.4 billion it recorded for the same quarter a year earlier.

Get the COVID-19 booster shot, Apple reportedly tells staff

Apple has reportedly told its store and corporate employees to get the COVID-19 booster shot or face frequent tests for the virus.

“Due to waning efficacy of the primary series of COVID-19 vaccines and the emergence of highly transmissible variants such as Omicron, a booster shot is now part of staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccination to protect against severe disease,” Apple said in a staff memo seen by The Verge.

Apple iPhone SE 3 render leak shows off an iPhone XR revival
iPhone SE 2020 Product Red

New renders emerged today that purport to show off the Apple iPhone SE 3 (or iPhone SE 2022, if you prefer). The renders, from TenTechReview and leaker David Kowalski, show off an iPhone that looks a lot like the iPhone XR, but in the same body as the iPhone 8-style iPhone SE. Now, there are some caveats here, but let's dive into what the leak says first.

According to the new leak, this year's Phone SE will be a redesign of the 2020 version and look more like a cross between that and an iPhone XR. It'll still have a small and compact body, but it'll drop the bezels and adopt the notch, likely with Face ID replacing Touch ID. Going off the renders, it looks like a budget iPhone 13 Mini more than anything.
