Do you live in a temperate rainforest? Or perhaps you’re balding or simply have skin sensitive to the sun’s harmful rays. Either way, the very exciting Jaguar F-TYPE – the first true sports car from perhaps the most iconic British automaker in 50 years – has been realistically out of your grasp. That is, until now.

Behold the Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe…well, the teaser at least.

Set for global debut at the 2013 LA Auto Show and an on-sale date in spring 2014, the F-TYPE Coupe is perhaps the most exciting thing to hit the driveways of fair-skinned anglophiles in generations.

Based upon the uproarious F-TYPE wildcat that we drove in Spain back in the spring, the Coupe picks up where the Convertible left off with a gorgeous all-aluminum body that won the 2013 ‘World Car Design of the Year’ award.

“The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-TYPE Coupe is a very significant moment,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design, in a prepared statement.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the F-TYPE Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupe is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-TYPE Coupe raises the bar yet again.”

We won’t know full technical details and specs of the F-TYPE Coupe until November 19 at 7:30pm PST. We can only presume, however, the Coupe – like the convertible – will be offered in three models: F-TYPE, F-TYPE S, and F-TYPE V8S.

Two engines with three distinct horsepower outputs will power these models: a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 producing 335 horsepower will be bolted to the F-TYPE. The same 3.0 then makes 375 hp in the F-TYPE S. And at the top of the range, in the F-TYPE V8S, is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 churning out 488 hp.

We simply cannot wait to see the final product in the flesh. Of all the exciting offerings coming to the LA Auto Show this year, we can easily say the F-TYPE Coupe will be one of our favorites.

News on the 2013 LA Auto Show is hitting the Internet every day. While we’ll be live on the show floor bringing you the latest, be sure to check our dedicated 2013 LA Auto Show page often for all the up-to-date info.

Mercedes-Benz G580 first drive: old-school off-roader goes electric
2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 from three quarter view.

American car buyers mostly know Mercedes-Benz as a luxury brand. But for decades, the automaker has also produced the tough, rugged G-Class (also known as the Geländewagen or G-Wagen), an SUV not afraid to get its leather upholstery muddy. And now, this iconic Mercedes is going electric.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology — the final name of the SUV previously known as the EQG — isn’t the first electric off-roader. The Rivian R1S and R1T and GMC Hummer EV have proven that electric powertrains and off-roading are a great combination. But the electric G-Wagen is different because it’s based on an internal-combustion model — and a very traditional one at that.

Honda believes hydrogen semi trucks will make the case for fuel cells
Honda hydrogen fuel-cell semi truck.

Honda remains committed to hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, but the market for those vehicles remains limited. So Honda is looking at other uses for fuel cells -- including commercial trucks.

To show how that could work, Honda converted a semi truck to fuel-cell power, replacing its diesel engine with three fuel-cell modules. Together, the three modules produce a combined 321 horsepower, and can propel the truck to a top speed of 70 mph. There's enough onboard hydrogen storage capacity for a 400-mile range with a full load, Honda claims.

Mercedes-Benz G580 vs Rivian R2: Is the much cheaper Rivian actually better?
2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 from three quarter view.

Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps off of the new "Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology." Yeah, it's a mouthful, but it's basically a new electric G-Wagon. It looks a lot like the G-Wagon you know and love, but with an electric powertrain and a battery. It's not the only electric SUV out there, however, and there are some great ones -- like the Rivian R2.

Both the Mercedes G580 and the Rivian R2 have a lot going for them, but they also approach the electric SUV slightly differently. Is one better than the other? I put the two head-to-head to find out.

The approach that the two vehicles take to design is quite different -- and you might like one better than the other.
