See what Jaguar’s C-X75 supercar can do in the hands of an F1 driver

Before the Jaguar C-X75 makes its big screen debut in the James Bond movie Spectre, Jaguar handed it over to a very special test driver. Felipe Massa doesn’t have a license to kill, but he is a Formula One driver with the Williams team. And he seems to approve of Jaguar’s hybrid supercar that might have been.

In the video above, Massa puts the C-X75 through its paces in Mexico City. The car looks great at speed, and Massa serves up an entire box of donuts. In the movie, the C-X75 will be driven by the villain Hinx, played by Dave Bautista. We’ll see how his driving (or rather, that of the stunt drivers) compares.

This short romp and the Spectre car chases will probably be the only times most people see the C-X75 in action. Jaguar brought it out of mothballs for this movie, but gave up on putting it into production years ago.

The C-X75 was first shown at the 2010 Paris Motor Show with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that included two turbine engines. It could have been Jag’s answer to the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder, and indeed the British firm tried to get it into customer hands. It contracted with the engineering division of the Williams F1 team, and replaced the turbines with a 1.6-liter piston engine. Eventually, though, the project was scrapped.

Jaguar’s companion brand Land Rover also provided some vehicles for Spectre, including modified Defenders and a Range Rover Sport SVR. All of the vehicles were prepped by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), the company’s division for limited-edition models and other specialty projects.

Meanwhile, Bond himself will drive the new Aston Martin DB10. It’s a car designed specifically for Spectre, and won’t be offered for sale to the public. Most of the handful of DB10s built were probably destroyed during filming, which racked up a car-kill bill of $37 million. You can see the results of that carnage when Spectre opens in the U.S. on Nov. 6.

The Kia EV3 could be the cheap electric SUV we’ve been waiting for
White Kia EV3

The Kia EV9 was already one of the cheapest ways to get an electric SUV, but now the company is taking things to the next level. After teasing the Kia EV3 last year, the car is now official.

The EV3 is built to be a slightly smaller, cheaper version of the EV9 -- following the path of the Rivian R2, which arrived after the Rivian R1S. It's certainly not as technologically advanced as the EV9, but it still looks unmistakably like a modern Kia, and is clearly a sibling of the larger SUV. On the outside, the vehicle has the same split taillights and very similar Tiger Face front. But it is quite a bit smaller. The vehicle will be available in nine finishes -- however only "Aventurine Green" and "Terracotta" are being announced right now.

White Kia EV3

Kia is on a roll. Hot on the heels of the success of the Kia EV6 and EV9, the company is already announcing what could be its cheapest electric vehicle yet -- the Kia EV3.

The Kia EV line seems to follow the rule of lower numbers indicating a lower price — and if so, the EV3 will end up being the cheapest electric car Kia has released to date. That, however, thankfully doesn’t mean that the EV3 will be a low-end car — it just means that Kia may be pushing the boundaries on electric car pricing.

Kia EV3 vs Tesla Model Y: Can Kia’s new entry-level car take on Tesla?
White Kia EV3

The Kia EV3 is finally coming, and it could well end up being the best small-size electric SUV to buy when it finally rolls out. It's smaller than the Kia EV9, but it offers many of the same design elements and features. But there's another small-size electric car that's currently one of the most popular vehicles out there -- the Tesla Model Y.

How does the Kia EV3 compare with the Tesla Model Y? And is one vehicle actually better than the other? We put the Kia EV3 and the Tesla Model Y head-to-head to find out.
Design
The design of the Kia EV3 is very different than that of the Model Y, though they're both reasonably good-looking vehicles.
