You don’t have to break the bank to get the Fiat 124 Spider

The barrier to entry of cool just got a little lower — at least, in terms of price. Fiat is planning on releasing its much anticipated 2017 124 Spider this summer, and while everything about this car may scream luxury, its price tag is surprisingly…well, affordable. The roadster, which was developed in tandem with Mazda’s MX-5 Miata, was thought to be unveiled as the more expensive alternative to the Japanese company’s ride, but while it’s an alternative, it’s not actually more expensive. The 124 Spider Classica, the base model, starts at just $25,990, including the destination fee. That means it’s just $80 more than the Miata.

Despite the fact that the Spider boasts a 160 horsepower engine capable of producing 184 lb-ft of torque, a six-speed manual transmission, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a super sleek design, it’s being priced to sell — and sell well. Even the higher end versions of the car aren’t much more expensive. The Lusso, the second-tier version, will sell for $27,495 in the U.S., whereas the premium Abarth is $28,195. Sure, you can make your Spider a bit more expensive by adding a six-speed auto transmission at $1,350, but even so, fans of the car might be pleasantly surprised at how attainable modern luxury is.

“Our mission at FIAT is to deliver Italian design and heritage in vehicles that are fun to drive,” said Olivier Francois, the Global Head of FIAT Brand, FCA. “The all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider brings these elements together and comes loaded with open-air fun, stunning Italian design and the proven turbocharged MultiAir 1.4-liter engine.”

If you’re a super Spider fan, you may consider the 124 Spider Prima Edizione Lusso, a limited edition model of which there will be only 124. Complete with a commemorative badge, an individual numbering system, the special Azzurro Italia paint job (it’s a blue car, guys), and premium leather seats, this version will set you back $35,995. So act quickly if you’re looking to be one of just 124 — these guys probably won’t be around for long.

Sony's September PlayStation Showcase was one to remember ... or at least the last 10 minutes of it were. While the first 30 minutes of the digital show revolved around new trailers for upcoming games, the final stretch was more about grand reveals. In particular, Insomniac Games stole the show by delivering its two biggest surprises: A Venom-filled trailer for Spider-Man 2 and a shocking teaser for a Wolverine game.

It’s official: You don’t need to spend more than $100 on true wireless earbuds
Sennheiser CX 400BT

Two years ago, if you wanted a set of true wireless earbuds with features like active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency mode, wireless charging, great battery life, and great sound quality, you were looking at spending at least $180, but probably closer to $250-$300. But time has a funny way of leveling the playing field and nowhere has that been more true than in the true wireless earbuds market.

Today, you’ll still pay upward of $250 for the very best models from top-tier brands like Sony, Bose, Apple, and Jabra, but you no longer have to do that just to get access to leading-edge features. In fact, the latest cohort of true wireless earbuds priced around $100 is so good, most people won’t benefit by spending more. You may not recognize the brands, but don’t let that stop you. I've had hands-on (and ears-on) time with each of these earbuds, and they won't disappoint. Let’s take a quick look at some of the features that are most in-demand, and how much you need to spend to get them.

What’ll happen to your WhatsApp account if you don’t agree to new privacy policy
WhatsApp

WhatsApp recently announced it would be changing its privacy policy, in a move that has many users worried about how much of their data will be shared with WhatsApp's parent company, Facebook. Now, the service has revealed what will happen to the accounts of users who don't agree to the new policy by the May 15 deadline.

TechCrunch contacted WhatsApp for more details on what would happen to users' accounts if they didn't agree to the new privacy policy. It reports that WhatsApp will "slowly ask" its users to agree to the new privacy changes, warning that they need to do so to continue having full access to the app's features. Users who decline to accept the new policy will be able to continue using the app for a few weeks, but only in a limited way. “For a short time, these users will be able to receive calls and notifications, but will not be able to read or send messages from the app,” the company told TechCrunch.
