The famed American tuner is renowned for squeezing every ounce of juice from V8-powered Mustang GTs, and Hennessey Performance Engineering’s latest model takes that philosophy to the next level.
Building off the success of the 717-horsepower HPE700 Mustang, the brand’s HPE750 variant produces a whopping 774 hp and 648 pound-feet of torque from its 5.0-liter V8, resulting in a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.4 seconds. The quarter-mile is dealt with in just 10.9 seconds according to Hennessey, but apparently even that just wasn’t good enough.
As part of an upcoming episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, the HPE750 was recently filmed reaching 207.9 mph on an 8.5-mile oval in Uvalde, Texas. The car sounds like a jet fighter as it screams down the tarmac in search of maximum velocity, its 2.9-liter supercharger gulping down air as fast as it can. The top speed was verified by GPS.
Outside of the blower, revamped fuel system, high-flow air intake, and in-house engine management, the car also features a variety of aesthetic upgrades. The HPE750 wears a ‘CarbonAero’ front splitter, side sills, and a rear lip spoiler, and 19- or 20-inch wheels are available as well, as are a Brembo 15.1-inch front brake system upgrade and a stainless steel exhaust.
Even with stiff competition from Roush, Saleen, and Ford itself, the HPE750 is clearly one of the fastest Mustangs out there. That said, don’t expect to see many of them on the road. Hennessey says it will cap output at 500 examples for the 2015 model year.
