When someone says “armored car,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Is it a hulking luxury vehicle with ballistics protection, or perhaps a combat-ready personnel carrier? Probably not a van, right?
Wrong.
Inkas, an armored car manufacturer from Canada, has introduced an augmented version of the GMC Savana passenger van. It may not be as flashy or intimidating as the other members of Inkas’ catalog, but a low-profile security vehicle has its own unique advantages. After all, if the baddies don’t notice you, it’s going to be relatively difficult for them to shoot you.
If they do notice you however, the beefed-up GMC has you covered. The Savana has been equipped with sturdy ballistics and blast protection all around, including 360-degree armor defenses and run-flat tires.
The van is quite luxurious as well, as the Savana also boasts a VIP interior package with pivoting seats that can be adjusted for multiple configurations — handy for accommodating either soccer teams or personal security forces. To keep passengers entertained, there’s a mobile entertainment system onboard complete with LCD displays, lighting effects, and limousine-inspired accoutrements.
If you need to flee for whatever reason, the GMC equips either a 6.0-liter gasoline V8 with 342 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque or a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 with 260 hp and 525 lb-ft. Either engine hooks up to a six-speed automatic, and the Savana is available in both regular and extended wheelbase versions.
