Land Rover’s Holland & Holland edition Range Rover is ready for upscale hunting

If you’re going to drive your luxurious Range Rover into the woods, why not equip it with some equally high-end guns to shoot things with when you get there?

Land Rover itself  liked that idea, so it teamed up with British gun maker Holland & Holland to offer a special-edition Range Rover full of the bespoke touches one normally associates with handcrafted firearms.

A Holland & Holland Range Rover made a splash on Top Gear a few seasons back, impressing the show’s irascible hosts with its built-in liquor cabinet. That car was built by tuner Overfinch, though, while this one is a factory job from Land Rover’s newly minted Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).

Based on the already-posh Range Rover Autobiography Black model, the Holland & Holland edition features a  gun cabinet lined in espresso-colored Alcantara that rests on a specially-designed moveable floor made from aluminum and carbon fiber, and finished in wood veneer and leather.

The Holland & Holland treatment can be added to either a standard-wheelbase or long-wheelbase Range Rover, the latter with available individual reclining rear seats. The interior is redone with electrically-deployed walnut tables, USB charging ports, and additional storage cubbies (for ammo?).

Details like wood veneer trim that matches the stocks of Holland & Holland guns, embroidery, and engraved door handles class things up even more.

In contrast to the lavish interior, the only real exterior change is a unique green paint color and matching grille that makes the Holland & Holland Range Rover look like it just drove out of the green-tinted world of the The Matrix.

Two V8 engines will be offered: a 510-horsepower supercharged gasoline mill and a 4.4-liter turbodiesel with 339 hp.

It appears Land Rover will only offer the Holland & Holland Range Rover in the U.K., at a staggering price of 180,000 pounds (about $285,000 at current exchange rates). Only 120 examples will be built.

Honda remains committed to hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, but the market for those vehicles remains limited. So Honda is looking at other uses for fuel cells -- including commercial trucks.

To show how that could work, Honda converted a semi truck to fuel-cell power, replacing its diesel engine with three fuel-cell modules. Together, the three modules produce a combined 321 horsepower, and can propel the truck to a top speed of 70 mph. There's enough onboard hydrogen storage capacity for a 400-mile range with a full load, Honda claims.
