Lexus has traveled to the Los Angeles Motor Show to introduce a concept car called LF-C2.
The LF-C2 stretches 185.6 inches long, 72.4 inches wide and 54.5 inches tall, dimensions that make it roughly the same size as the RC coupe. It wears an aggressive front end characterized by a bold rendition of Lexus’ trademarked spindle grille and a deep front bumper fitted with air vents that cool the front brakes. Out back, the concept is fitted with L-shaped tail lamps and a functional air diffuser.
Five-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels and a multi-layer golden yellow paint job add an eye-catching touch to the sporty overall look. Being a concept designed exclusively for the auto show circuit, the LF-C2 is not fitted with a top but the roadster would likely adopt a retractable hard top similar to the one that was found on the IS convertible if it is given the green light for production.
The LF-C2 boasts a luxurious cockpit with room for up to four passengers on seats upholstered in a two-tone combination of white and gray leather. The steering is commanded through a thick leather-upholstered multi-function wheel fitted with small touch pads that replace the conventional buttons. A larger touch pad located on the center console lets the front occupants control the roadster’s infotainment system.
Lexus has not detailed what lies in the LF-C2’s engine bay.
Although the LF-C2 is officially a concept car, executives have hinted it could closely preview a topless variant of the RC coupe aimed squarely at the BMW 4-Series Convertible and the Audi A5 Cabriolet.
“The LF-C2 concept shows what’s in store for our brand’s future design direction,” explained Jeff Bracken, Lexus’ vice president and general manager.
