Among supercars, the upcoming LaFerrari XX is the true alpha male.
Sure, there may be a faster creation hiding out in a Swedish barn somewhere, but it’s a struggle to picture anything with a more robust combination of performance, style, heritage, and ‘wow’ factor than the dynamic LaFerrari.
The hardcore, track-only XX version is expected to debut at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali event in December, and in anticipation, Sicilian designer Daniele Pelligra has penned several renderings of the hybrid hypercar.
Pelligra’s portrayal looks like a menacing dragon from the front, and some of his additions were inspired by the camouflaged prototypes that have been spotted testing recently.
Those elements include the unique scaffolding of the rear spoiler, as well as the racing-style tow hook up front. The XX also wears carbon fiber splitters on the front fascia, retooled air intakes, and as an homage to F1, a two-tone hood.
That means that as we race toward the car’s debut next month, Pelligra’s envisioning may be pretty close to the real thing, minus some of the more ornate coloring choices of course.
Despite rumors of an F1-derived turbo V6, LaFerrari XX will likely equip a tweaked version of the standard car’s 6.3-liter V12, which has been massaged from 789 horsepower to 889 ponies. The 161-hp electric motor should remain unchanged, so total output could jump to a staggering 1,050 hp.
Take that, McLaren P1 GTR.
Ferrari will reportedly limit the XX’s production to around 30 units. Pricing has not been announced yet, but with a vehicle like this, you can bet on the sticker price being as outlandish as the rest of it.
