Ge touchy-feely with the new Acer Chromebase all-in-one, a touch Chrome OS desktop

Acer announced the Acer Chromebase on April 1, the latest addition to its Chrome OS product line. The Chromebase is the first all-in-one Chrome OS desktop with a touch display.

The new Acer Chromebase will come with a full HD resolution and a 178-degree viewing angle display that incorporates 10-point touch technology. Acer is marketing the product to anyone who wants a computer for both work and play. It boots up in 10 seconds, and comes with multiple layers of built-in security. This reduces maintenance for users by keeping viruses and malware at bay.

Sporting an NVIDIA Tegra K1 quad-core processor, the Acer Chromebase is designed to provide a responsive, rich multi-tasking experience. And all the while, the device itself will stay quiet, even while handling heavy workloads.

The Chromebase has an HDMI output, and USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. It also has 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity. In terms of video and media, the Chromebase comes with a built-in HD webcam and two 3W audio speakers. The product is VESA-compliant, meaning it provides flexible viewing options when mounted to a VESA-compatible stand, bracket or arm in public areas.

The Chrome OS allows multiple users and accounts while synching items such as videos, music, and documents. All files are backed up with the operator’s Google account as well, and Acer provides 100 gigabytes of Google Drive storage to its customers.

Acer says that the Chromebase will be available in North America and the Asia Pacific market in the second quarter.

Two people working at an HP all in one PC.

HP announced two new all-in-one (AIO) PCs that are built for hybrid work. Featuring a suite of videoconferencing tools powered by HP Presence, wireless charging stands, and for the first time, Windows 11, HP says the machines are built to help you focus and get things done while working remotely.

There are two new PCs: The EliteOne 800 G9 and the HP Presence AIO. The HP Presence machine is built for, well, HP Presence. HP announced this range of products in October 2021, starting with videoconferencing systems built for meeting rooms. The HP Presence AIO is built for meetings, too, but it moves the features from the meeting room to the home office.

Acer’s first Alder Lake gaming desktop is crazy powerful and coming soon
Acer Orion 7000 sitting on a desk.

Acer just announced its Orion 7000 gaming desktop at the Next@Acer event, and it looks like it could be one of the best gaming desktops when it launches. Although it technically sits below the Orion 9000 Acer currently offers, it's hard to imagine a machine more powerful than the Orion 7000. It comes packed with up to an RTX 3090, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and -- most critically -- an Intel Alder Lake processor.

We've seen an Alder Lake desktop leak, but the Orion 7000 is the first Alder Lake gaming desktop we've seen shown off on a large stage. Intel hasn't announced any specific Alder Lake chips yet, and Acer didn't confirm what kind of chip the Orion 7000 comes with, but given its specs, we expect up to a Core i9-12900K.

A picture of the new MSI PRO AP241 PC.

MSI recently announced the release of the Pro AP24, an all-in-one PC that is designed with business professionals in mind. The PC promises high-end desktop processors, eye care technology, and an enhanced IPS panel for an improved viewing experience.

The recently released PC by MSI features the H510 chipset, along with the 11th-Gen Intel Rocket Lake processor. As most other all-in-one PCs sport mobile-grade CPUs, the desktop-grade chip on the Pro AP241 should hopefully be an upgrade.
