Computer maker Acer—now the parent company of Gateway and the third largest PC maker in the world—is brining its 13.3-inch Aspire 3935-6504 notebook to the U.S. market, to be followed this June by the latest behemoth in its large-screen Gemstone line.
The Aspire 3935-6504 features a 13.3-inch 1,366 by 768-pixel display, a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 3 GB of RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, an 8× DVD SuperMulti DVD burner, and Intel integrated graphics. The 3935 also comes stick with a 5-in-1 media card reader, a Web cam, Intel 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi, three USB ports, and a multi-gesture trackpad which enables users to pinch, flick, and swirls their fingers to perform common actions. The Aspire 3935-6504 ships with Windows Vista Home Premium, and carries a suggested retail price of $899.99.
If the Aspire 3935-6504 isn’t big enough for you, the company hopes you’ll wait until June for the Aspire 8935G, the latest in its large-screen Gemstone notebooks. The 8935 will feature an 18.4-inch display with a native 1,920 by 1,080-pixel resolution, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4670 graphics, a 4× Blu-ray writer, and a host of other goodies (like 802.11a/b/n Wi-FI, a 5-in-1 media card reader, a backlit keyboard, an otional biometric fingerprint reader, and a sound system featuring Acer’s Tuba CineBass amplifier). Acer hasn’t announced pricing for the 8935G, but the units weigh 10.1 pounds and should be available in June.
