Beginning today, Dell will be accepting pre-orders via its official web store for certain devices sporting Windows 10. Orders will ship on July 29th, the same day Microsoft releases its new OS, and customers looking to take advantage of Dell’s Same Day Ship program will receive pre-ordered items as early as the 30th.
“Dell and Microsoft have worked hand-in-hand to develop Dell experiences that maximize the capabilities of Windows 10 for our customers,” writes Allison Dew of Direct2Dell, the official Dell corporate blog. “Thousands of engineering hours and unprecedented collaboration have led to what we believe is a great release imprinted with Dell feedback — or should we say, your feedback. Through more than 2 billion contacts we have with you each year, we have taken your feedback and relayed it to our teams and partners to ensure your Windows 10 experience on Dell is top notch.”
Also listed in the blog post are a few notable examples of aforementioned Windows 10 features that Microsoft and Dell have collaborated on. These includes touch functionality, such as with Continuum, which has been optimized for Dell’s high-resolution InfinityEdge displays. Likewise, a partnership with Waves MaxxAudio is said to have improved speech recognition with Cortana, and Dell insists that Intel’s RealSense 3D cameras will make for a most serviceable experience in conjunction with the Windows Hello secure sign-in features.
Dell products pre-installed with Windows 10 that are eligible for pre-order include Inspiron desktops, the Inspiron 11 2-in-1, Inspiron 15 laptops, and the XPS 8700 desktop computer. Pre-orders made between now and July 29th at noon PDT will ship on the first day of their availability.
