Just in time for  back-to-school shopping madness comes an announcement from multi-media speaker maker Hercules revealing five new additions to its speaker line, bound to be found in a dorm near you this fall.

The new Hercules XPS Soundbar USB (below) is the company’s first speaker of its type, providing a clip-on speaker upgrade for laptops and netbooks. Designed to clip to the top of a laptop without getting in the way of its webcam, the mini sized sound bar runs off of USB power and drives four small active speakers and one passive radiator with 5 watts of peak power.  Hercules promises its new USB soundbar will crank out big sound that will blow away any laptop’s built-in speakers. At an asking price of $50, we certainly hope so.

To round out the fall and winter line-up, Hercules also dressed up its best selling 2.0 and 2.1 40 Slim speakers in glossy white laquer and chrome highlights. The two-channel system is meant to go for $40, or $60 if you want the subwoofer.

Dell Memorial Day Sale: Save $400 on the new XPS 14
The Dell XPS 14 on a white table with the screen open.

For a long time, the Dell XPS 13 constituted Dell's small laptop response to the MacBook Air 13, but there's a new kid in town. Dell recently released the Dell XPS 14, a nice little bump in size, and very likely trying to aim for the MacBook Pro 14 crowd of folks who want a small laptop but not something so small it will be hard to use professionally. Luckily, you can get a pretty substantial discount on the XPS 14 directly from Dell as part of the early Memorial Day sale, with a price tag of $1,749 rather than the usual $2,259 it goes for. That's a whopping $510 discount, so if you want a powerful little laptop, this is the perfect opportunity to grab one.

Why you should buy the Dell XPS 14
This little Dell XPS 14 comes with a 14.5-inch screen running an FHD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 500 nits, making it the perfect companion for keeping mobile and taking it with you wherever you go. That's certainly helped by the 3.7-pound weight and the 0.71-inch thickness that makes it both lightweight and thin enough to fit in a bag or backpack, and it's well-built enough that you shouldn't have to worry about carrying it around. It's worth mentioning that you can upgrade the screen to a gorgeous 3.2K OLED screen that's also touche-enabled for an extra $300, although it does bump up the weight a bit to 3.8 pounds.

The Dell XPS 14 open on a wooden table.

For a laptop with powerful performance and an eye-catching design, you can't go wrong with the recently launched Dell XPS 14. We didn't expect it to appear with a discount from laptop deals this soon though, so you shouldn't miss the chance to get the device with a $500 discount from Dell. Instead of its sticker price of $2,199, you'll only have to pay $1,699 for this machine, which is still fairly expensive but it's going to be worth every single penny. There's no telling when the offer expires though, so hurry with your purchase to make sure you don't miss out.

Why you should buy the Dell XPS 14
The Dell XPS 14 is a new model following the Dell XPS reset, featuring an edge-to-edge keyboard with larger keycaps, an invisible haptic feedback trackpad, and glowing touch keys at the top instead of physical function keys. The laptop's 14.5-inch Full HD+ screen is also eye-catching as it's bright and colorful, and there's plenty of storage space in its 1TB SSD. The Dell XPS 14 also promises dependable performance with its Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card, and 16GB of RAM, which will allow it to handle the most demanding tasks of your daily workload.
