How to watch LG’s CES 2018 press conference

While CES 2018 doesn’t officially start until tomorrow, January 9, that won’t stop major brands from jumping the gun with their own press conferences, and it doesn’t stop our coverage either. LG’s press conference kicks off today, and you can watch it right here.

Given the sheer number of product lines coming out of LG, expect a fairly diverse spread of topics throughout the stream. The company has already announced its 2018 line of TVs, as well as its new smart home appliances. That said, we can expect to see them covered here as well, if only briefly, along with the company’s new ThinQ sub-brand, which ties together all of LG’s smart and A.I.-driven products.

Any of the announcements the company has already made will likely be featured as well, but we can likely expect a few surprises to be thrown in, too. Will we see anything as impressive as the 65-inch UHD rollable OLED the company introduced over the weekend? Hopefully.

The press conference kicks off January 8 at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and can be watched in the embedded video once it kicks off.

Digital Trends own editor in chief offered some insights into what to expect from this year’s consumer electronics show, and the emphasis was squarely on the smart assistant space:

The big story in 2017 was the rise of the smart assistant, with Alexa embedded in everything  from speakers and lights to cars and even furniture. This year promises even more pervasive adoption of voice computing, but the ubiquity of “touchless” interfaces should make voice assistants far more versatile in the year ahead.

That means voice-enabled products more than anything else, something we anticipate seeing from major appliance manufacturers like LG:

The widespread acceptance of voice assistants will be a huge driver for the smart home in the year ahead, and I expect will be the primary driver of smart home products. You bought a speaker, so why not get lights and locks and thermostats to work with it?

What will LG announce? Only time — and ultimately, the press conference itself — will tell.

LG debuts two new CineBeam 4K HDR projectors
LG CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P 4K HDR projectors.

LG has unveiled its two most advanced projectors to date. The LG CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P both feature 4K resolution and HDR capabilities with 2,000,000:1 contrast ratios. Both models will be available in the first quarter of 2022, and LG released pricing on February 28.

The HU710P will retail at $2,500. It uses a hybrid laser-LED light source, which LG says doesn't require a color wheel, and can generate up to 2,000 lumens of brightness. The HU715Q, which is a larger, ultra short throw model, uses just laser light and produces up to 2,500 lumens. Both projectors will work in most indoor settings, but LG says they can also be enjoyed outside, after sunset.

Asus announced two new OLED gaming monitors at CES 2022, including the world's first 42-inch 4K OLED display. The monitors may target gaming with their high resolutions and refresh rates, but Asus says they come with excellent color and contrast thanks to the OLED panel, as well.

There are two versions available, a 48-inch model (PG48UQ) and a 42-inch one (PG42UQ). We've seen 48-inch OLED displays before, including the Gigabyte Aorus FO48U and LG C1, but never a 42-inch display. At 42 inches, it's still a little big for some setups, but it's a lot closer than the 48-inch displays that have made the rounds over the past year.

BenQ is looking to grab the attention of gamers attending the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES.) The company that is most known for its monitors has just announced a new lineup of gamer-first products, including a 4K HDR gaming projector.

Being called the "only gaming projector on the market offering settings for 4K HDR game audio-visual enhancement," the new addition to BenQ's lineup is the X3000i 4K LED gaming projector. This projector is unlike any other as it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, with preset audio-visual gamer modes. Those modes are tuned to 8.3ms response times, at the 120Hz frequency. These response times and frequencies are quite important when playing fast-paced games like Fortnite or even Call of Duty.
