LG’s Chromebase Google all-in-one desktop gets a release date and price

Google’s Chrome OS started life in inexpensive Chromebook laptops. Then, it moved onto inexpensive, tiny desktops, or Chromeboxes. Now, the OS is ready to take on the iMac-dominated all-in-one space as well.

We first saw LG’s Chromebase AIO back in January at CES 2014. Now, the system’s arrival is imminent; it should be landing at outlets like Amazon, Newgg, and Tiger Direct on May 26, according to LG. If you’d like to see it for yourself before buying, it should also show up at your local Fry’s Electronics and Micro Center as well. It’ll carry an MSRP of $349.99.

Just what does a $350 Chrome OS-packing all-in-one desktop get you? There’s a 21.5-inch 1080p display, an Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of solid-state local storage. Google will throw in 100GB of cloud storage for two years also.

Connectivity options consists of 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, one USB 3.0 port, and a trio of USB 2.0 ports. An Ethernet jack is included in case you prefer a faster, more stable Internet and network connection. There’s also an HDMI-in port, which means that you can use the Chromebase’s monitor as a mini HDTV.

The Chromebase will be available in both black and white hues, and we dig the retro-futuristic style. However, that’s tainted by the wired peripherals that appear in the press photos. A wireless keyboard and mouse may be too much to ask for, considering the price. Even so, we’d still love to see a model that only needs one cable for power, or two if you aren’t using Wi-Fi.

How to set an ‘Out of Office’ message in Microsoft Teams

Many people use Microsoft Teams regularly to communicate with colleagues both inside of the office and remotely. It is considered one of the most efficient ways to ensure you can stay in contact with the people on your team, but what if you need to let people know you’re not readily available? Microsoft Teams has a method for you to set up an "Out of Office" status for your profile to let staff members know when you’ll be gone for the afternoon, for several days on vacation, or for an extended period.
Where do I go to set up my ‘Out of Office’ status for Teams?
It is important to note that your Microsoft Teams and Outlook calendars are synced. This includes your out-of-office status and automatic replies. So, whatever you set up in Microsoft Teams will reflect in Outlook. Similarly, you can set up your out-of-office status in Outlook, and it will be reflected in Teams; however, the former has a more straightforward instruction.

First, you can click on your profile icon in Teams and go directly to Schedule an out of office, as a shortcut. This will take you to the settings area where you can proceed. You can also click the three-dot icon next to your profile icon, then go to Settings > General, then scroll down to the bottom of the page. There, you'll find out-of-office settings and click Schedule.
