Peripheral and accessories maker Logitech has taken the wraps off three new keyboards, incuding the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard, which features adjustable key backlighting for those late-night study or blogging sessions—plus the company claims is its thinnest design ever.
“Style—specifically the ability to choose the style that fits one’s tastes—is increasingly driving purchase decisions,” said Logitech’s president of product marketing for keyboards and desktops Denis Pavillard, in a statement. “Our three newest keyboards address this trend, as well as various usage scenarios, from working in low light to being more comfortable when working on a laptop.”
The Logitech Illuminated keyboard is just 0.37 inches thick and features a transparent frame and a soft-touch palm rest, along with a full complement of media, function, and volume control keys. Logitech has embedded microlens reflectors in the keys to create a sharp and clear backlighting pattern for the keys, making it easier to use the keyboard in low light situations where you don’t want to wake a roommate or a housemate with a full-fledged light…or if you just prefer the vampire aesthetic of the dark. The Illuminated keyboard also features Logitech’s “Perfect Stroke” system which allows for a 3.2mm key travel distance and offers uniform response across the entire surface of the key. Might not be too all user’s tastes, but for folks that can use a notebook keyboard, it might be a welcome improvement.
Logitech also announced a new diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks offers a full-sized keyboard layout and the PerfectStroke key system, and also sports Logitech’s 2.4 GHz wireless technology. The company also announced it’s new Cordless Desktop S520, with one-touch access to common productivity applications and a high-performance cordless laser mouse.
Expect to see the Illuminated Keyboard this October for $79.99, while the diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks will appear the same month for $99.99. Expect to see the Cordless Desktop S520 this month for $59.99.
