Shirking the trend toward more and more widescreen monitors for PCs, display maker NEC refreshed its line of standard-format LCD monitors on Monday with five new displays. The monitors in the new NEC AccuSync 3-Series line range from 17 to 19 inches, all with native resolution of 1280 x 1024.
Three of the monitors will be 17-inch models with 700:1 contrast ratios, brightness of 300 cd/m² and 5ms response times. The ASLCD73VX and ASLCD73VX-BK will be identically priced at $224.99 with color being the only difference (either white or black). The slightly pricier ASLCD73VXM-BK will go for $239.99, but includes built-in multimedia speakers.
Both 19-inch monitors will offer the same 300 cd/m² brightness and 5ms response times as the smaller models, but with improved 800:1 contrast ratios. Also like the smaller models, they will be available in both regular and multimedia variants, with the ordinary ASLCD93VX-BK going for $254.99 and the speaker-equipped ASLCD93VXM-BK going for $274.99.
