Panoram’s 24-Inch Display Does Hi-Def in 3D

Panoram

If you’re shopping for a monitor in the 24-inch range, now you have a new spec to consider along with resolution, color range and refresh times: 3D capability. Panoram Technologies, a provider of large-scale displays for business and government, released its PSP 2400 desktop monitor on Tuesday, which not only spans 24 inches at 1920 x 1200 resolution, it can display images in full 3D.

The monitor has a circular polarized coating that, along with a pair of special polarized glasses provided by Panoram, allows images to leap off the screen in three dimensions, regardless of where users sit relative to the display. While 3D gaming may be what comes to most people’s minds, Panoram markets the display for applications like stereo 3D model reviews, oil and gas well planning, and medical imaging. But it comes with a driver compatible with mid- to high-end Nvidia cards, so hardworking molecular researchers can fire up BioShock after hours, too.

Sadly, the PSP 2400’s price tag of $4,995 probably puts it out of reach of those who won’t be planning gas wells or curing diseases with it. But there’s always Magic Eye.

Need a cheap monitor? This 24-inch Acer is discounted to $89
The Acer 23.8-inch SA241Y monitor on a gray background.

Are you looking for cheap monitor deals because you spent most of your budget on a powerful desktop computer? The good news is that you don't have to settle for an outdated display that will waste your PC's capabilities because you can get the 23.8-inch Acer SA241Y monitor for a very affordable $89 from Walmart. The $40 discount on the screen's original price of $129 may not last long though, so if you're on a tight budget, you need to hurry with your purchase of what may be the best monitor that you can get for this cheap.

Why you should buy the 23.8-inch Acer SA241Y monitor
It may be affordable, but the 23.8-inch Acer SA241Y monitor is still a pretty decent display for your computer setup. You'll get sharp details with the monitor's Full HD resolution, and IPS technology enables better color accuracy and wide viewing angles of up to 178 degrees. The monitor offers a 1ms VRB response time, a 75Hz refresh rate, and support for AMD's FreeSync technology for smooth and lag-free images -- it won't match up to the capabilities of the best gaming monitors, but the 23.8-inch Acer SA241Y monitor is still a worthwhile purchase.

Samsung has a 3D gaming monitor that doesn’t need glasses — and it actually works
Lies of P on Samsung's glasses-free 3D gaming monitor at CES 2024.

I've never been interested in the glasses-free 3D craze that's carried on for years, but Samsung finally sold me. It showed off a new concept for a glasses-free 3D monitor at CES 2024, and I had a chance to try it out. And I'm probably just as shocked as you are that it actually works.

This isn't a product -- not yet, at least -- but a bit of technology that Samsung is showing off early. It's the aptly-named Samsung 2D/3D monitor right now. The monitor works with eye tracking. Two cameras at the top of the display track your eyes, and they can transform any game from a flat 2D image into 3D.
