Independent PC maker Velocity Micro has acquired boutique shop Overdrive PC for an undisclosed amount, giving the company access to the latter’s signature Hyperclocking technology which wrings the fastest reliable speeds out of computer components, giving users the maximum performance from each part.
The thought is that by combining Overdrive’s capability to create high performance systems with Velocity MIcro’s manufacturing and distribution resources, the combined company will be able to make and market new lines of high-end gaming and workstation systems to a wider customer base.
“Velocity Micro is clearly identified as an industry leader for building high quality, custom built PCs,” said Mario Cifaldi, founder and CTO of Overdrive PC. “We share their mission and values and I’m confident that the addition of the Overdrive brand will add new techniques to their arsenal of technology to create even faster and more powerful PCs for gaming and performance.”
Each company will maintain its individual brand identify, although Overdrive PC is picking up shop and moving to Velocity’s headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, where Cifaldi will serve as Director of Advanced Technologies and GM of Velocity’s Overdrive PC division.
