Monster has been positioning itself as a top-flight supplier of high-profile, celebrity-associated headphones, first lining up with Dr. Dre and more recently toodling around with the likes of Miles Davis and Lady Gaga. Now the company is launching itself into the fashion world with new Butterfly in-ear headphones designed in conjunction with fashion designer Vivienne Tam. The patent-pending headphones tie in with the theme of Tam’s Spring 2010 fashion collection, sporting a light gold-brushed finish and butterfly images on the earpieces and cable slider.
“Fashion and music together give you a different journey, different world, and experiences of life. Music gives my designs movement and rhythm,” said Ms. Tam in a statement. “I dance with my designs. Double Happiness.”
The headphones feature multiple eartip sizes for a comfortable fit, a built-in ControlTalk remote for controlling volume, playing/pausing music, moving between tracks (supported by most iPods and some BlackBerries), and enabling hands-free calling. Monster also touts its cable management system, with a cable clip to keep wires out of the way and a cable slider to reduce sway and bounce.
How much will all this run you? The Butterfly headphones will carry a suggested price of $199.99, but that’s not so bad: Monster’s Pro Copper Professional In-Ear Speakers go for $399.99, and the Miles Davis Tribute High Performance In-Ear Speakers normally run $499.99, but are currently on offer for $100 off.
