Best Buy is selling the iPhone 6S for $1, but there’s a catch

It’s Friday, December 18, 2015, and if you hurry, you could score an iPhone 6S at Best Buy for a buck! Of course, there’s a catch — a few of them, actually. The deep discount is only good toward Verizon and Sprint versions of the 16 GB iPhone, requires a two-year contract, and the deal ends this Sunday. So, like we said, better get on it and quick!

Have you been thinking about getting an Xbox this holiday? Now may be the time to pull the trigger. Starting December 22 and running through January 7, Microsoft is running a Countdown Sale and will cut prices on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 consoles by 40-60 percent. There will also be daily specials on games and discounts on movies and TV show purchases as well. To cash in on the deals, you’ll want to visit Microsoft’s Countdown page starting December 22 and revisit for the latest deals.

And finally, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens to the general public today, and DT’s very own movie reviewer, Rick Marshall, says that unless you’re a complete poser of a Star Wars fan, you’re gonna love it.  Ok, those are my words, really, but the sentiment is about the same.

Marshall tell us J.J. Abrams’ latest installment in the Star Wars saga offers plenty of the sweet vibe we got from A New Hope with just a dash of Empire Strikes Back elements, all while bringing a totally fresh new story and characters to the mix with plenty of favorites from the past. It’s a must-see movie, and bound to break all sorts of records, so if you’re off to see the flick this weekend, we wish you all of the fun. We’ll be right there enjoying it with you.

That’s it for this week, be sure to check in with Digital Trends all weekend for fun and interesting tech stories that will make you look like the smart one at all those holiday cocktail parties you’ve got to go to. We’ll see ya again next week.

Work/Life: How to remain focused during times of distraction
worklife episode 26 featured

On this episode of Work/Life, Ciara Pressler, author of Pregame and Game Plan, talks with Greg Nibler about how to remain focused during the constant distractions, chaos, and confusion of the current climate, whether it’s pandemic fatigue, protests, wildfires, the election, or any number of other things out of our control that can take our attention or bog us down.

“There’s a lot going on,” Pressler said, “so how do we focus when there’s so much going on?” The first step of gaining focus, she says, is to acknowledge what’s going on -- not just with the constant barrage of news, but with yourself. “You might not be feeling like working at 100%, and that’s ok!” she says.
