Speaking of cars, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is looking to unite his electric car and solar power franchises into one company – called Tesla when it’s all said and done – for $3 billion in stock. Musk is the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and the cofounder of Solar City, which is run by his cousin, so really, this is family business. However, business at Solar City has been in a slump lately, and according to Musk, folding it into Tesla makes perfect sense.
Musk has said before that Tesla and Solar City are essentially related: You buy a Tesla electric car and charge it up at home using Solar City solar panels. Having one company instead of two will just streamline the process, he says. Investors seem split on the idea, with Tesla stock going down and Solar City stock going up. It seems like a simple deal since Musk essentially runs the show at both companies, but of course, it isn’t. Stay tuned to see if the deal goes down.

Virtual reality systems continue to fly off shelves despite there being somewhat of a lack of content to enjoy with it. And, if you want to create your own VR content, so far it hasn’t been too easy. But Samsung is hoping to change that with their Gear 360 camera… providing you can find one. No, it’s not camouflaged, it’s just tough to find one for sale. The ball-shaped camera features two fish-eye lenses and multiple modes for stills and video. It’s going to cost $350 when it debuts, which should be… right about now.
Problem is, the first cameras will be made available only to VidCon attendees only, and then… well, who knows. Hopefully, it will eventually end up on Amazon, and down the road, let’s face it, this tech is going to be built into your phone. Maybe we’ll just wait until then.
