At just $89, down from $130, the Samsung Galaxy Buds are an affordable way into true wireless earbuds while still providing excellent sound and high-quality manufacturing. The buds themselves have a healthy six hours of battery life and are sweatproof so they’re ideal for exercising. We were impressed with their light weight and comfortable fit, and the only drawback we found was the 7-hour battery life in the case, which isn’t as much as other true wireless earbud cases. But overall, a great option that’s even more compelling at this price.

Samsung Galaxy Buds+ — $119, was $150

If you like the sound of the Galaxy Buds but battery life is a big concern for you, then you can opt for the Galaxy Buds+ which have a massive 11 hours of battery life. In our review of these buds, we declared them more than a worthy successor to the first-generation model, offering the same comfort and light weight but with even more accessories for the most comfortable and adjustable fit. The buds also connect to an app that helps you find the ideal sound for your particular needs. The buds are now available for $119, down from their original price of $150.

Samsung Galaxy Buds+ vs. Amazon Echo Buds
Amazon Echo Buds on ear

Thinking about buying a new set of earbuds but don't want to break the bank? Instead of dropping hundreds on a premiere pair of Apple AirPods, did you know you can nab a great-sounding pair of buds for almost half the cost? That's where Samsung and Amazon come in. With both the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ and Amazon Echo Buds, we have two powerhouse brands here taking different approaches to an increasingly popular product category, which has, at least until now, been dominated by Apple. Let's see which take on true wireless earbuds comes out on top.
Price

If you watched the video comparison at the top of this article, you may have noticed we said that the Echo Buds sell for $90. That was true when we made the video, but what we didn't realize was that Amazon had simply put the Echo Buds on sale temporarily. Their regular price is $130, and that's probably what you'll find when you hit Amazon's site. Currently, though, you can find them on Amazon for $79.

Are Apple’s AirPods Max headphones really worth $549? Never say never
Apple AirPods Max

Apple's long-awaited over-ear noise-canceling headphones, the AirPods Max, are now a real product you can buy. And if you act quickly, you might even get them before December 25. But that assumes you're willing to pay Apple's heart-stopping price of $549. That's not just a lot of money; it's more than $150 over and above what Bose charges for its Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 -- a flagship set of active noise canceling (ANC) headphones with a very similar set of features.

Has Apple priced itself out of the market? When you compare the AirPods Max to current competitors, you could be forgiven for saying so. But we've been here before. It's still remarkable to me that folks are willing to spend up to $200 for the second-gen AirPods, when the market is saturated with true wireless earbuds that do more, sound better, and cost way less.

Apple’s over-ear AirPods Max noise-canceling headphones cost an eye-watering $549

The much-anticipated Apple "AirPods Studio" are here, but the over-ear active noise-canceling (ANC) headphones are officially called the AirPods Max, and the name isn't the only surprise. Apple's asking price of $549 sets a new high watermark for the over-ear ANC category. To put it in perspective, Sony's top-rated WH-1000XM4 are just $350, while their biggest traditional competitor, the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, sell for just $380.

The AirPods Max come in space gray, silver, sky blue, green, and pink, and they ship with their own carrying and storage case. They can be ordered via Apple.com starting today, with availability beginning Tuesday, December 15.
