This is the best Ring Doorbell deal still available for Cyber Week

While the deals on Ring doorbells we’ve covered previously for Black Friday and Cyber Monday are long gone, there still are a few good deals out there. Refurbished Ring Video Doorbell 2’s are cheaper than ever, and Amazon’s selling its stockfor just $99 with free Prime shipping — so you’d have it by the weekend.

Why not take advantage of this deal for yourself, to protect you from package theft? At $99, it’s $30 cheaper than even the best price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Pair it with the Echo Show 5 or Echo Show 8 and you’ll have a way to see who’s at the door for less than you’d pay for a new one — and feel much more secure about buying online.

We’re not trying to scare you, either. In New York City, the New York Times found that 90,000 packages are stolen or lost in the city every day. Some of these thefts could be prevented by something as simple as a video doorbell.

You’ll always know when somebody’s at the door. If the person’s still stupid enough to steal your packages, you’ll know what they look like. Ring also includes a ‘Neighborhood’ feature in its app, which allows you to share videos with others nearby. Spot a package thief? Let your neighbors know to watch their stuff — think of it as the 2019 equivalent of the neighborhood watch.

The Ring Video Doorbell 2 has improved video quality and records motion events in 1080p. There is a noticeable difference in the clarity of the video clips between the first- and second-generation doorbells. We also appreciate the fact that the battery is now removable for charging; it’s a real pain having to take the doorbell off to charge it.

Motion detection is also better, but not as good as the Ring Video Doorbell Pro which requires existing doorbell wiring to work. If you do have wiring available, we’d strongly recommend spending the extra $30 for the refurbished version instead.

All certified refurbished devices sold by Amazon carry the same limited warranty as new products, so you’ll have peace of mind in case anything goes wrong. Otherwise, it looks and works like new, and it’s a great way to save quite a bit of money.

Check out these Ring video doorbell alternatives that don’t require a subscription
A Eufy video doorbell installed near a door.

Ring is one of many companies that lock video doorbell features behind a monthly paywall. Unless you're forking out cash every month, you won't have full access to everything your device can offer. The brand also recently instituted a price hike -- and some shoppers are so frustrated that they've started looking elsewhere for their security needs.

If that's you, or if you'd like to find an easy way to cut down your spending this year, here's a look at four Ring alternatives that don't require a subscription. Some of these may offer optional subscriptions, but even if you don't pay, you'll have access to a wide range of features that aren't free on Ring.
