A big update on November 19 will bring Thanksgiving- and holiday-themed events to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The free download also finally adds the option for players to transfer save data to the game.
The update adds two big events to the game. Turkey Day takes place on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, and will task players with gathering ingredients to make a Thanksgiving feast. Christmas Eve (December 24) brings Toy Day, a holiday-themed event where players dress up like Santa Claus and deliver gifts to villagers. Both events add classic characters to the game, including Franklin and Jingle.
Long-requested save data transfers are also coming to the game, allowing players to move their save file if they change Switches. The lack of save transfer was a point of early criticism from fans of the series.
The update also brings a set of new customization options to the game. Players can trade Nook Miles for a set of new reactions, which allow characters to do yoga, work out, or take a selfie. A collection of new hairstyles is available through the Nook ATM, adding more diverse hairstyles for players of color.
Tom Nook will give players a new storage expansion option, raising the number of items players can store in their home to 2,400. That’s especially useful considering that the new holiday events will add lots of new things to collect, including New Year’s-themed items.
New Horizons’ next update is scheduled for late January. The teaser image features Pavé, a peacock who appeared in previous games to celebrate the Mardi Gras-themed Festivale event.
